Adobe Media Encoder stalls at 0% CPU when rendering from Premiere; resumes only when I close/re-focu

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing hangs between Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder (AME). I already reinstalled, updated, and cleared caches, but the issue persists.

- What happens:I send a sequence from Premiere Pro to AME.

- AME starts rendering, then randomly stalls.

- Progress stops and, in Windows Task Manager, AME drops to 0% CPU.

- If I close Premiere Pro, AME immediately resumes and continues rendering.

-Sometimes just clicking the AME window or switching focus makes it resume for a while, then it stalls again.

-Exporting directly from Premiere sometimes works, but sending to AME is unreliable.

What I’ve tried:

-Changed Project Settings > Renderer. It was initially stuck on “None” with a tooltip saying the playback engine was active; after stopping playback and restarting I could change it, but the problem remains.

-Toggled GPU acceleration on/off in both Premiere and AME.

-Cleared Media Cache in both apps and deleted the folders manually.

-Reset Premiere and AME preferences (launch with modifier keys).

-Created a new project and copied the sequence.

-Temporarily removed third‑party plug-ins and VSTs.

-Clean‑installed latest Studio/WHQL GPU drivers and rebooted.

-Rendered to a short, simple path on a local SSD.

-Ensured Premiere and AME are on the same version/build.

System details

-OS: Windows 10

-CPU:[Ryzen 3 3300x

-GPU: RTX 4060 8Gb

-RAM: 64gb

Sorry about the issues you're experiencing. What driver version are you currently using? Have there been any compatibility issues detected during the check? Were you aware that you installed any security software or additional system components? What versions of Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder are you using? Have you also tried the beta version?
