Making media encoder remember presents and save locations?

Not sure if I was too dumb to understand how this works or whether the steps needed are kinda illogical or at least not self explanatory. In any case, I came across this report because I’ve been wondering the exact same for a while.

In order to set a folder and a preset for a project and make sure Media Encoder remembers it, one has to do the following on every first render:

1. File > Export > Media
2. Set Location
3. Select Preset
4. Send to Media Encoder

The first render has to be sent to Media Encoder via Export > Media. From then on, one can send to Media Encoder right away by Alt+Shift+M or whatever shortcut it’s linked to.

So, should one work with multiple folders, they have to do the above for every batch that’ll render in its folder.

In a way, I feel it’s kinda simple, yet also kinda silly.

Still, I also believe that once you select a Preset and/or a folder on Media Encoder directly, it should remember the last preset and/or folder used — even if Export > Media hasn’t been used at all.

It does matter a lot because in that case Premiere Pro is managing the last & default locations.

I used just the send to media encoder option from PR. Although I don't think it makes much difference how I export.

How do you export in Premiere Pro? Using shortcut or Export Panel?
