Media Encoder bugs with Jpeg sequences

Hello,

Using jpeg sequences quite a bit in my workflow, I would like to report 2 bugs knowing that I work from RAW video rushes from the Canon R5C on a 1st generation Mac Studio (2022, Apple M1 Max chip):

  • In Premiere, I export my videos in Jpeg sequence format, which has always worked well, except recently, if I export via Media Encoder, the colorimetry changes abnormally (cyan dominant). I don't have this problem if I export directly in Premiere.
  • then I import this Jpeg sequence into After Effect as "all files/Camera RAW" in order to be able to apply my colorimetric settings via Camera RAW then I export in H265 in Media Encoder. It has always worked well except that recently, I have an error message (screenshot attached). Note that it works well on my Macbook Pro (from 2019 I think).

I have done all the Adobe and Mac OS updates. I have the same problem on versions 2025 or 2024 of Media encoder and After effect.

Please help me, I am a videoart artist and it is blocking me from delivering my works to my distributors before Christmas, my Macbook is not powerful enough to process 8k quickly, so I need to do it on my Mac Studio.

Thanks

This is supposed to be fixed now in Beta. Please verify.

Hello,

I'm actually working on 4K videos in portrait orientation and doing creative retouching using Camera RAW. For this I have several possibilities but each time I'm stuck:
- either I produce a JPEG sequence from Premiere then I import into After Effect as Camera Raw sequences, but I'm currently stuck because the rendering via Media Encoder is in error.
- or I open my video in Photoshop (preferred solution), I apply a Camera Raw filter then masks in Camera Raw, but there I'm also stuck because Photoshop limits the rendering to 2304px in height (while I want 3840px).
- I would have another solution which would consist, once my settings are finished, in converting the PSD file in portrait orientation to a Landscape orientation by performing a re-orientation in landscape and a resizing of the work area, but the Camera Raw masks do not rotate!
- Last possibility, rotate the image in landscape orientation directly in Camera Raw and apply the saved effects then return to portrait orientation, but the rotation function is not available in Camera Raw! While curiously in Camera Raw via After Effect rotation is possible and available because I have already used this technique (see attached images).

Thank you for your help.

Hello, sorry but I didn't see your last messages. I really need you to solve the problem because I need this to work, is it solved on the Beta version? Because I just tested on the latest updates and it still doesn't work.

Thank you,

Franck

Hi, the fix should be in latest beta release of AfterEffects and MediaEncoder. Please check it out.

Follow-up on this Issue & Camera RAW Colorimetric Settings

Hi,

My colleague has previously reported the issue you mentioned here, and I am currently investigating it as a developer.

After some testing, I was able to reproduce the issue, but only with your source files.

Additionally, could you guide me on how to apply your colorimetric settings in Camera RAW?

Here is what I did:
I imported the image sequence using After Effects:
AE->Import->multiple Files. A file open dialog comes up and you can setup on how you want to import. I chose Camera Raw and Create Composition.
After that I applied some effects (enhanced lights etc) ...
In File Menu ->Composition->Send to Media Encoder.
Encoding->successful.

Other than that I also tried your composition on
25.0 and 25.2 Beta and Stable version ->Failed

24.1x LTS version of AE and AME and on this version it fails too with the same error.

1. Which plugins do you use? Are they up2date?  It would be helpful to just check this too.
2. Have you tried to relink the images before exporting? (right click on the images and Reload images)

Best regards,
Sue
