Premiere/MediaEncoder 26 - Masks breaking with export

The new masking feature is great imo, but they sometimes break / disappear when exporting through Media Encoder. I have experienced this when using the object mask tool to then copy a mask into “opacity” to essentially create a layout roto.

Hoping this will work soon, or there is some solution to this, because I mainly use Encoder to render, as I have to do a lot of bulk exports.

A fix is on the way. For now, please use the direct export function in “Premiere” or the Beta versions for exporting via AME: Sorry for all inconveniences.

I can confirm that the Beta of AME seems to be much better at handling the masks. I got some errors initially, but after a restart things seems. to be rendering normally.

I’m having the same issue. The object mask/pen mask totally disappeared when exporting to Media Encoder 2026. All my mask tracking data is saved on same location as the project is, so there shouldn’t be any problem for Media Encoder to connect the data sets. Only solution is to export with Premiere 2026, at a cost of a lot of time because I can’t work while exporting.

I love how the first response is “I cannot reproduce your problem” What a ridiculous dismissive response and the go to for all Adobe support agents, of course you cannot reproduce the problem, you’re not doing what the user has done.

Anyway. I have the same issue with object masking in Premiere not exporting accurately, but it seems that I was able to work around it by avoiding Media Encoder. My exports to frame IO have been fine, so I tried the final export directly from Premiere when I exported my MXF Masters. It would seem media encoder loses track of the masks. Oddly enough the pen tool drawn masks worked fine, but not the object masks I ended up with the foreground missing and a background with nothing on it.

Gotta love Adobe’s QC on this release. I still can’t log into frame IO normally either. Now I have to rush to get the first delivery I made replaced. Perfect.

“I cannot reproduce.” means I took the effort to reproduce based on the info that I have and that, obviously, I do not have enough information to reproduce.

I’m happy to share a consolidated project, but I’m getting the similar results as @shernandezlechuga below. The subjects in the foreground drawn with Object Masking do not appear or I get flickering similar to viewing the interlaced frames individually. The masking Pen seems to work oddly enough in those frames, but more importantly exporting directly from Premiere resolves the issue, but watch out because Frame IO uploads work fine as well and might give someone the impressionable is good.  I may test interlaced VS non interlaced. File type export MXF Op1A and MP4

I cannot reproduce your issue on my MacBook. Please provide more information. Please provide more information. What is your system (OS, CPU, GPU, memory). What are the exact steps to reproduce the issue?

    sure!

    Apple M4 Pro

    48 GB LPDDR5

    20 Core GPU

    1TB SSD

    Tahoe 26.1

    The situation is:

I have an overlapping clip and an underlying clip sandwiching a third - the upper clip has a masked element from the bottom one, that I also need in the frame of the one in the middle I can not show visuals, but it’s a 50/50 splitscreen with an element that overlaps onto the top half of the image) - if i render this sequence through ME (standard Vimeo Setting), some of the same setups loose the masked element, though they are not lost when exported straight from PR.

the masked elements, as well as the unmasked ones all have 2 transform effects on them, not sure if this can be a cause, but as I said - most masks stay intact, only some break.

    hope this helps!

Still not able to reproduce. Would you mind sharing a small project sample that illustrates the issue? I can send you the instructions via private message in this forum.
