I am familiar with the proxy workflow in Premiere and this has not been a problem that I have experienced before. When attempting to create QT ProRes Proxy of 44 to 65 clips per card/reel media encoder could not handle the process. I tried 3 different macs all running the same current release software of Premiere (23.0.0, build 63) and Media Encoder (23.0.1, build 1). One of the macs has OS 13.0.1 the others are still on OS 12.6.1
Typically send the "create proxy" task to ME for an entire, but single, card at a time. In this case a minimum of 44 files. For several of the files they didn't even show in the Queue window, but did show that they were being created in the Encoding tab. The order in the queue has typically been in order of file names as selected in Premiere (0001.mxf, 002.mxf) now they are taking an extremely long time to appear in ME and not in any specific order. Also the files that would encode and did not show in the queue did not encode with the assigned ingest setting (they were encoding with "
Preset: Adobe Stock 4K DCI with Audio (Apple ProRes 422 HQ)"). Also the order of the encoding did not match the queue list several times a file towards the bottom of the list was encoding while files at the top of the list were not yet started.
After several hours of trying different computers, I reinstalled the most available versions of Pr 22 and ME 22. I experienced the same types of issues with these older versions.
I did try to create the proxies without using Premiere, but then Sony lut then appears baked into the proxies which is undesirable. If there is an option to modify this setting within ME I am not aware of it.
I was finally able to get proxies created by only selecting 5 mxf files at a time within Premiere and "creating proxy".
Please let me know if there is any other information that I may be able to provide to assist in getting this working as it has been.
