Issue - Unchecking the settings option for "Increment output file name if file with same name exists." causes the render to fail.

Adobe Media Encoder version number - Version 24.6.1 (Build 2)

Operating system - Sonoma 14.6.1

Steps to reproduce

  1.  Open settings > General and deselect "Increment output file name if file with same name exists."
  2.  Render V1 of the video file to destination folder.
  3.  (Optional) Make video edits.
  4.  Export video with matching file name to same destination folder.

Expected result - The file in the destination folder should be overwritten to prevent the buildup of multiple versions in destination folder.

Actual result -  The render itself fails to excecute, see attached error log.

For reference, see the following thread for others that have had a similar issue: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-media-encoder-discussions/overwrite-file-command-not-adhered-to/td-p/13090829

Target files are not automatically overwritten. If you want to overwrite, you need to confirm, e.g. by choosing the same target file name and then click in "overwrite". See the other thread for comments.

@EckiAME Any update on this? Is this a known issue that just isn't being looked at right now? Or is the way I'm trying to use this feature not as intended?

I did see your comment from May 14, 2024 in the thread attached above, however it won't work for me. I am using Frame.io to upload a sequence and render to a custom folder, and as far as I'm aware it's not possible to change the export macro/action.

This looks like it has been an issue for a number of years, for various people. Frustrating that Adobe doesn't even acknowledge that it's a bug, let alone takes steps to fix it.
