Can't install latest Media Encoder Beta version 27.0

AME (B38 and previous builds) will only install if I remove the old version first and reboot machine.

Seems Beta version of ME on September 1st loads fine here now.

I’m having the same issue.  Here’s an AI interpretation of the install log:

I would wait on this one. This looks like an Adobe Beta packaging/metadata problem, not a problem with your machine.

Your log actually shows something pretty remarkable:

The update correctly sees Media Encoder Beta 27.0.0.29 and updates it to 27.0.0.34. The 27.0.0.34 package installs successfully and Adobe finishes with Exit Code 0 — zero fatal errors.

But then, only three seconds later, Adobe starts another installer session.

And here's the smoking gun:

Previous build version '27.0.0.34' found installed on machine. Updating to requested build version '27.0.0.29'

So Adobe is literally downgrading Media Encoder Beta from .34 back to .29 immediately after successfully installing .34.

I think I can see why

The second installer request is slightly different from the first one.

The successful .34 update requests these modules:

• AMEBETA-MediaIntelligence
• AMEBETA-esl_lp_en

But immediately afterward another Adobe installer request appears for build .29, and that request additionally contains:

AMEBETA-EnhanceAudio

That strongly suggests Adobe has an internal package/version mismatch: some Beta component—very possibly the Enhance Audio component—is still associated with build 27.0.0.29, and installing/updating that component causes Creative Cloud to reinstall the older parent Media Encoder build.

That would create exactly the loop you're seeing:

.29 → Creative Cloud says .34 available → install .34 → success → Adobe component installs .29 again → Creative Cloud detects .29 → offers .34 again → repeat.

And you're definitely not the only one. There is an Adobe Community bug report from August 29 specifically saying Media Encoder Beta 27.0 appears to install successfully and then reappears in Creative Cloud's update list.

There's also another current report describing both Premiere Beta and Media Encoder Beta being stuck in an endless “Update Available” loop.

What I'd do

Stop installing that update for now. There isn't anything in this log I'd try to repair locally.

I wouldn't bother uninstalling/reinstalling Media Encoder Beta. Based on this log, your installation isn't corrupted — Adobe is explicitly instructing its own installer to replace .34 with .29.

Just tried the following with the same result:

After 1:36, it jumps back to “New Updates”.

Just tried installing ME (Beta) Build 33 and no luck.

After 1 min and 34 seconds it jumps back to “New Updates”.

I jumped over here from the Premiere (Beta) section to confirm your findings. Fortunately for me, I’m not getting the missing .dll files messages.

For a few days, we could not update Premiere either. Just a few moments ago, I was able to update to Build 32 of Premiere. ME does not update. The following is what I experienced today:

Update ME:

Did not open ME before attempting updates.

1st attempt: After 1:44 jumps back to “New Updates”.

2nd attempt: After 1:41 jumps back to “New Updates”.

Launched ME. Scanned Audio Plug-Ins. Shows as: Build 29.

3rd attempt: After 1:36 jumps back to “New Updates”.

Launched ME. Scanned Audio Plug-Ins. Shows as: Build 29.

4th attempt: After 1:36 jumps back to “New Updates”.

I moved over to update Premiere and was successful. So, I tried ME one more time:

5th attempt: After 1:38 jumps back to “New Updates”.

The word “Finishing” briefly appears, and it jumps back to “New Updates”.

Launched ME. Scanned Audio Plug-Ins. Shows as: Build 29.

Since this was apparently addressed with Premiere, I can only hope that ME updates will be addressed as well.
