Adobe Audition adding crackle to the end of Tracks

I'm working on sound effects for a video game I'm making, using Audition to edit the audio. And every single time, at the very end of the effect, Audition adds a pop/crackle noise at the very end, present both in playback and the exported sound. If I try to trim the crackle off, then a new crackle will be present, again at the very end.

It's barely noticable on its own, listening to the sound effect by itself, but in the game, the fact that every single sound effect has this crackle becomes extremely noticable and distracting.

I attached a sample sound effect so you can maybe hear what I'm talking about.

I'm not a tech expert, somebody please help! What's the deal here!?

That's presumably just the noise. We need the whole of the end, really, including what leads up to the noise. If we can't see this in context, we'll have no idea what might be causing this. You should be able to post one into this thread, but if you can't, then let me know.

Wav file version.

[Mod note: threads concatenated - keeps the forum tidier]

It's no good as an MP3 - the coding removes exactly what we'd be looking for. It has to be a wav file.

I have a larger sound file that I find on Freesound, then trim it down to the desired length in Audition, and save it as an MP3.

Can't tell anything from an MP3 - we'd need a short wav sample with slightly more of the wanted sound as well. Also, what exactly are you doing in terms of processing within Audition?
