Adobe Audition crashing and autosave not working properly

So I've had Audition (23.1.0.75) on my 2019 macbook pro (2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7for a few months now. In the last month it has started crashing frequently and at times autosave is not saving (set to every 3 mins) so I am left with a back up that was from 4 hours ago or something. It also runs quite slowly at times during playback - with cutting, fading, moving, etc. lagging as well as the levels meter at the bottom.

I am dialogue editting so will have around three tracks of around 40 mins. I also mix etc. in Logic so will have ZERO pluggins in use in Audition. Closing other applications also has no effect and the laptop has plenty of storage space available. So seems like it wouldn't be a CPU thing?

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Or experienced something similar?

I don't know what is causing the crashes, but if you locate and post the text of the crash log files into this post, we might get a clue. You can locate those easily from the Help menu. Also you should note that for some reason that isn't absolutely clear, Audition doesn't always offer you the latest backed-up session file, but an ealier one. So it's worth checking your backup location to see if there's a later one - there often is.

Just the usual: ckear caches, reset prefs, try a re-install.
