Adobe Audition Jumpy & No Audio

The last few days I've been trying to use my Adobe Audition software to record audio with my Blue Yeti. I've had the same set up for over a year and it has worked beautifully. However, all of a sudden when I go to record in Audition, my time marker jerks along and there is no audio captured (no audio waves in the software appear). When I hit play to listen to the playback it's a second long clip of no noise. I replaced the cords for my Yeti, I updated my Adobe Audition, and I tried switching to my built in microphone, but I still get the same results. I changed my laptops battery/power settings thinking "well maybe it's in power save mode or quiet mode and that's causing some sort of processing issue" (though neither have been a problem in the past) but changing those settings also didn't fix the problem. I'm tempted to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Audition, but I have pretty slow internet so I'm hoping to keep that as a last resort. If anybody has any recommendations I'd really appreciate it.

Don't feel stupid - this is quite common. Any process that runs on your computer is allocated a level of priority - obviously some have more percieved 'importance' than others. Normally, recording is given the highest priority, but sometimes other things can come along, trump this and proceed to interrupt it. There are a few favorites: wifi polling, some anti-virus operations and, unfortunately, things like Bluetooth being the more common ones. The worst of it is that you don't ever know when they are going to strike. It's one of the main reasons that I won't make any live and irreplaceable  recordings using software - this goes for all software, not just Audition. It's okay to use software to record when retakes aren't an issue, but that's all; the most I'd ever do with it in a live session is use it as a backup.

 

There are two other reasons not to feel stupid as well: 1) You figured this out for yourself, and just as importantly 2) you reported it back here, so other people can discover it when they have a similar problem. Stupid? Naah....

... I feel stupid. I turned off bluetooth thinking "That's the only other thing that has changed recently." and sure enough... it is recording now. I have NO idea why that would have messed up my recording ability... BUT it works now. Thanks for reading my technology whoas!
