Adobe Multitrack won't play back in multitrack

I'm using a PC running Windows 10 Pro (will be updating to 11 at some point soon). Using Audition version 25.3.0.71 (a fresh update).

When I load up a session file, or open a new session file, playback (either via spacebar or mouseclick on "play" button) will not play. It responds my un-highlighting the tracks - indicating that the input has been received - but I cannot figure out why the multitrack is not playing back.

Hi. Here's a few things to try:

  • Make sure neither the track(s) nor the Master Track are set to muted.
  • Go into Audition's Preferences (on the Edit menu) and make sure you have the correct hardware selected for output.
  • Ensure no other software than can use audio is running, especially meeting software like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Try a brand new multitrack session, and record straight into one of the tracks. Does that play back?
  • Do the individual audio files play outside of multitrack mode?
