Audition 26.0 freeze

Audition completely unusable. It launches, displays the Learn Panel, and then freezes within 5–10 seconds. The UI becomes unresponsive: Menu items turn gray, the Learn Panel shows a blue highlight border, and the application stops, freezes my entire system & requires a hard reboot. This happens with every single launch, even after “clean” reinstalls and resets!

I have fully uninstalled Audition, Creative Cloud, and all other Adobe apps. I have manually deleted all Adobe folders in Program Files, Program Files (x86), AppData, (Local and Roaming) removed leftover CEP, CEF, and WebView2 components, and reinstalled cleanly.

Additionally, I have deleted all workspace files (except a custom “NoLearn” workspace created to attempt launching without the Learn Panel,) and edited AuditionPrefs.xml to disable it and set NoLearn as the default. I have deleted recovery files after each crash, and even attempted Shift‑launch to bypass previous sessions.

Further, I have renamed Learn Panel extension folders, added a “dummy index.html” to replace the Learn Panel content, disabled and re‑enabled CEPHtmlEngine, renamed the global CEP folder to force regeneration, and verified WebView2 runtime installation. I’ve reboot MANY times, tested with and without peripherals connected, and “believe” I have confirmed no GPU, audio device, or driver conflicts

Despite all of this, Audition still freezes immediately after launch, always at the moment the Learn Panel attempts to initialize. HELP!

For, I think, the first time in nearly 15 years of using Audition without problem, I’m seeing this problem of the “freeze”, running version 26 (latest release), Win 11 25H2, i7 14700 CPU, 32 Gb RAM.

Specifically, I was carrying out my usual editing of a church service recording in Waveform View, removing “gaps”, setting levels (different voices, singers etc.), normalizing to -3dB, using iZotope 11 Advanced (to control overall final level) and RX11 Advanced to remove Mouth Clicks (one of the mics is somewhat sensitive and such noises can be intrusive with certain voices), all actions I have taken for several years without problem.  This proceeded as expected, until I came to apply the Effect Rack and “Save as ...” the resulting file.  The saving process seemed to start normally but stopped at approximately 25%.

Despite waiting at least 10 minutes for the process to resume, nothing happened, the screen went opaque and the only “resolution” was to use Task Manager to close the app.

Any and all subsequent attempts to open it, whether I chose the option to Continue, Delete or Later the “session” which Audition said was not completed previously, stopped at the Initialising AuUI screen (I assume this means the point at which the app was attempting to create the User Interface).

So, I took the “nuclear” option of completely removing Audition (my only CC app) and used the CC App Uninstaller tool to completely remove that core app.

I then downloaded and reinstalled the CC App and Audition, attempted to run AU and the first start-up failed at exactly the same point again (Initialising AuUI).

I checked that the drivers for my RTX4060 GPU were fully updated, no change in AU behaviour!

Because I maintain very regular back-ups of my C:\ drive I could return to an Incremental Back-Up created just before I began work on this particular audio file.  I carried out the restore operation (which returned CC app and AA to what they had been before all the problems started) opened AU without problem and began editing again.  Within a very few minutes (i.e., NOT whilst attempting to save the edited file this time) the app “froze” again (spinning blue circle) and remained in that state for at least 20 minutes (until I once more used Task Manager to force-close it).

Any subsequent attempt to re-open the app caused the same “stop” point as before “Initialising AuUI”.

Any and all advice and suggestions for how to resolve this will be very gratefully received!

Since this problem is also occurring for me in the latest Beta release (freezing at the point of Initialising AuUI), how do we “draw the attention of the developers” to it.

At the moment I’m paying a monthly subscription for a product that will not run on my computer so not a happy bunny!  Is the audbugs@adobe.com email address still in use?  If so, what details do we need to send?

    TIA

As far as I’m aware, audbugs@adobe.com still works, although I don’t know how it’s monitored. I suspect that the Audition beta community gets looked at more than this one does, although since Durin left, it’s not been too clear as to what the Audition communication lines are - it’s almost like they don’t want us to know...

Charlie Wilde have you had any luck resolving this yet? I’m in the same boat.

Audition 3.0 doesn’t have the HUD - you have to upgrade if you want it.

I am also having this issue. Audition completely unusable after about 30 seconds of being open, crashes windows task manager and requires system reboot. Uninstall/Reinstall does not fix the issue.

I am on an older computer (2017 Dell Precision 5520 on Windows 10). I am not the most tech savvy -- could it have to do with still being on Windows 10?

The latest version of Audition runs fine under W10 (HP Probook laptop), but note what I said about uninstalling - don’t use the Windows one, but use CCcleaner to do it (link above).

Any luck?  I am not able to run Audition and it’s freezing on me.

I’m having the exact same problem! Both Audition and Premiere are doing this!

I’m losing a client because of this! I’ve tried disabling starting services, updating drivers, opening Audition on a new user on my PC, uninstalling and reinstalling…

I’ve tried Audition 25, same problem.

Try doing what I suggested above - use the CCcleaner to uninstall Audition and Premiere, and then reinstall both of them. I’m pretty sure that this is an issue with your machine; I’ve just updated a W11 machine here (both the OS and the Adobe software) and it all runs fine.

What I don’t think you appear to have done is uninstall using Adobe’s CCcleaner tool, which will sanitise rather more than you can yourself… try that first.

Thanks, Steve! I (didn’t add ALL the details of the past 10 days, but) ran that five days ago.
