Can't reorder effects in multitrack effects rack

Recently, Audition has stopped allowing me to reorder the effects in any multitrack effects rack.

When I try to drag an effect to a new ordering position the arrow cursor turns into a cicle-with-line-through-it and the effect won't move.  There are no other limitations in the project (other than the bugs that I reported about years ago and are still not fixed).

Wow!

I went ahead and uninstalled/reinstalled Audition, including removing preferences, plugins, etc..

I opened the new Audition and told it the dirs to find my VST3 plugins from and imported them all in.

I then opened a current project and it opened successfully.

But I still can't re-order any effects in any multitrack tracks.

I opened an multitrack session project which was last opened about a year ago.  I couldn't reorder the effects in any tracks in that, either.  I could try reinstalling Audition but I have a concern about doing that.  I use many 3rd party VST3 efffects and I'm worried that, if I reinstall Adobe, an attempt to re-open my projects will fail because the newly installed Audition won't know about those effects.  I'm afraid audition might do something negative like remove my use of them or something.

PC. I'll try a session last opened in an older Audition version and report back

Mac or PC? It works fine here on a PC...

Do you have any sessions from a previous version of Audition? If you open one of these in the current version, does the same thing happen?

Darn.  Reseting Preferences had no affect.

Frustrating to not be able to reorder multitrack effects.  To work around it I have to save as presets, delete an effect, recreate the effect somewhere else and re-apply the preset.  And I tend to have a half dozen effects.  So, I have to move them all down this way to stick something new up top.

Yes, to both.  I'll try your suggestion and report back.

Does this happen in all multi-track files or just one?

If you start a new MT session and try to apply track effects, does it still prevent you from re-ordering them?

If the answer to both of these is "yes," I'd advise you to reset Audition's preferences to see if that clears it up.

Launch Audition from the application icon (not by double-clicking a file/session) and immediately hold down Command, Option, and Shift (macOS), or Ctrl, Alt, and Shift (Windows).
