Hollow sound when editing only

Since 2024 edition when I Play in Audition it sounds a little hollow (which it did not fo before). Yet when I export it, it sounds fine. Is there something I can do to fix this? So when I an editing it doesn't sound hollow? I'm using it for narration.

Is Audition input moitoring your microphone when you're editing, so that it creates a feedback loop of the playback audio?

Are there any 'enhancements' added to your playback hardware? Sometime a OS update will add strange things.

Mac. Both waveform and muiltitrack. It sounded fine a couple of weeks ago, just started doing this lately. Thank you.
