Multitrack not saving - URGENT help please!

I wasn't using Audition for several days and when I opened it today to work on my urgent project - out of a suddent it doesn't save the multitrack session - with this error message:

The target directory is not writable

It does save however changes to the WAV files which are in the SAME target directory, so it's not an issue with folder permission.

I restarted it several times, didn't help.

this is a very serious bug - and just when I need to work on an urgent project to a deadline.

can someone please help??

Strangely enough, I don't think that any of us can remember the configurations of every single poster... 😉

If you have got the same message with another .sesx file as well, then you need to look carefully at the actual file properties, as this doesn't sound as though it's an Audition issue at all. I've certainly never had anything like that happen. The other thing that you haven't mentioned is where the folder is. Ideally you should save your work in a folder created directly on the root of any drive you are using, rather than down some convoluted path going through multiple folders and locations. If it's a path defined by the OS, then anywhere along it you could find folders with strange write permissions that you aren't necessarily aware of, and that's why creating the folder yourself on the root, or in a path you've created is always the best idea.

sorry since I posted here several rimes and said that I work on a desktop PC with Windows 10, didn;t think to repeat it 🙂

This is with a brand new session I just created and wanted to save,  but also tried an older sesion, made a change and tried to save - again, it refused claiming non writable destination.

But I tried to SAVE AS with a different name and it did save this time. PHEW.......

Interestingly, it asked me to create a session folder, while it didn't ask that the first time.  So there was a bug.

Have you seen this before?

thanks a LOT!!! 🙂

Don't exactly have a lot to go on here - you haven't even said whether this is on a Mac or a PC.

The chances are though that you have a corrupted session file, and that could have been caused by almost anything - not necessarily Audition at all. Try using Save As and use a slightly different session name, which will create a new session file in the same location - or any other location you choose, come to that.
