No auto save—lost an entire multitrack session after computer restart

I have my Audition autosave set to every ten minutes in the session folder. I've been working on a multitrack session for a few days. However, after my Macbook restarted itself, I lost a month of work. There were only a handful of auto save files, all of which were from a month ago when I first started working on this project.

Is there any way to recover these files? Where did it all go if not in my session folder? How can I prevent this from happening again?

Thanks for the response. I've attached a screenshot of what's in my project folder.

And yes, I meant the sesx file, not the actual audio file!

Is this what was actually in the folder, or just what you were offered? It's worth checking because sometimes, due to the naming convention you don't automatically get offered the latest ones. Audition doesn't actually trash files (it can't) - it leaves your OS to fail to save things sometimes, but generally everything is still there - although I'm not making any promises.

You are aware, I take it, that autosave only backs up your session file - doesn't touch the audio at all. That should still be where it was.
