Problems exporting mixdown as 192 kbps MP3

Hi Rob,

Please share the sample rate of the session in which you were facing issues.

Steve, that is brilliant - thank you.

I was thinking of some kind of even cruder workaround, but yours sounds much better. I'll try it later today and will tell you how I got on.

This is actually quite annoying. It appears that since Adobe changed the encoder from Fraunhofer to LAME that it is not possible to convert an existing session, or even just a wav file, directly to a 192k MP3. It's nothing to do with your session - it won't let you do this from a mixed-down single file of your session either. I'm going to say that this is a bug, because LAME itself is perfectly capable of saving at this rate.

There is sort-of a workaround, but I don't like it. If you export your session as a single wav file and open that in Waveform view, you can resample your file so that it's a 192k file instead of whatever your session rate was ( I resampled from 48k to try this). Now, if you go to export the file you can change the type to MP3 Audio, ignore the sample type message which still says 48k, and go to the Format Settings tab and change the setting to MP3 192k CBR, and it should then save as a 192k MP3.

But you really shouldn't have to do this; it should work directly from the Multitrack export menu as far as I can tell, and I'm pretty sure that prior to the change, it did. So I'm changing the thread to a 'Bugs' thread and will attempt to get the devs to look at it.
