Strange default dings and sounds upon action with Apollo twin x USB

Is this a new one? I'm getting sounds with actions within Adobe Audition using UA Apollo twin x USB and Windows.

Here's what's happening: https://youtu.be/1TKxWN2mDHk

Open app: a sound. Start/Stop recording: a different sound. Start playback: another sound. Swap apps and return to Audition: oh hey, a notification sound.

It's only in Audition, no other Adobe app nor any other app in Windows. It does this whether I change settings in Prefs>Audio Hardware/Mapping from ASIO UA to MME Default (UA USB). I have no other audio drivers installed. I have Systems Sounds (Asterisk, Start, Notifications, etc) disabled. It did not do this before installing/using the Apollo interface - I previously was using a Behringer 302USB mini mixer for my XLR Mic input and did not have this issue in Audition.

Version/System details:

Audition 23.6.1.3

Windows 11 Pro 22H2 OS build: 22621.2283

The Apollo wasn't sending anything - it was simply recieving it via the connection port (inappropriately) and processing it into audio. But hey, you've got a fix, so - good!

Thanks Steve. I thought it'd have to be MIDI related, but surely since my MIDI device is powered off, that couldn't be it. I removed the device from Au's settings and that fixed it. Super easy but strange. I don't even remember adding a control surface for Audition, or any Adobe app. I question whether it was the Apollo sending those signals, because this does not happen with my music production apps where my MIDI devices are connected.

Thanks!

Well I know what it is - but I'm afraid I don't know exactly why your interface is doing it!

The moment I heard the piano sound, the first thing that jumped into my head was MIDI. What is happening is that Audition can input and output controller commands, and these are transmitted and recieved as MIDI notes. For whatever reason, your interface is treating these as something it should play! We've come across it before, but not with a UA Apollo twin. This is almost certainly an input setting on the interface control panel, but the other thing you might want to check out is the settings in Edit>Preferences>Control Surfaces, as this determines what gets sent (different controllers use different MIDI commands). If there's anything in there at all, I'd remove it and see if that stops it happening. That's not ideal; you really should find out why the Apollo is responding to MIDI this way.
