Very Strange Distortion while Recording

Whenever I try to record on Adobe Audition (macOs Monterey 12.6, up to date with Adobe updates), the audio is very, very distorted - sounding clipped and robotic. I've attached a sample.

I tried recording on other programs including Audacity and Garageband and the recording is completely fine. It's only happens on Audition.

Do you know what's going on here and how I can fix this?
