P: Camera Raw "Settings" resetting with each update

I apologize if this has been asked before but it's tough wording to find in search and I may not even be using the right terms.

So anyway, with the last handful of updates, all my "interface/layout" settings in Camera Raw have been resetting on my Silicon MacBook (but NOT on my Intel iMac). It all goes back to default... favorites are gone (profiles AND presets), vertical is horizontal again, it's back to light gray, custom panel order is reset... seems trivial (and is certainly less of a hassle than all the issue the program was putting me through a couple years back) but it is a huge time-suck and I can't figure out why it is happening on one and not the other... which also makes me feel like there may be a fix. Anyone have any insight?

BOTH MACHINES : Version 17.5.0.2318

MACHINE WITH ISSUE : 2024 MacBook Air, 15-inch, M3, 16 GB, Sequoia 15.6.1

MACHINE NOT HAVING ISSUE : 2020 Retina 5K iMac, 27-inch, 3.6 GHz 10-Core Intel Core i9, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Sequoia 15.6.1

Hello everyone,

An update for Adobe Photography products has been released as part of the MAX cycle. This update addresses the reported issue.

If you don’t see the update in your Creative Cloud app, refresh it using [Ctrl/Cmd] + [Alt/Opt] + [R].

Please note: It may take up to 24 hours for the update to appear.

Thank you for your continued patience.

While getting tired of this issue, as it happened more than 10 times in the last weeks, I ended here after searching for the problem. It's very frustrating.

So I read new log files are no longer needed? But is there a solution to this issue? It's so time-consuming, resetting Camera Raw preferences Especially selecting my favourite presets over and over again, as only these can be accessed directly in Bridge.

Happens on Windows 11 machine, Asus Studiobook Pro with Ryzen 9-series processor, when opening ACR from Bridge.

I am having the same issue. I reverts the color space to Display P3. I have to readd the camera profiles. It does this at least once a day.

ACR starts with the Welcome screen, all setting reset to default. I have assigned profiles to each specific camera (color saturation, vibrance, details), all gone. As well as color space, workflow, file handling, performance, just everything. In addition, for masking, brush sizes, flow and opacity, as well as "reset sliders automatically" - everything resets to default settings which I just never use opening RAW files.

When this issue occurs, Camera Raw behaves as if it has just been freshly installed or updated. The “Welcome to Camera Raw” splash screen appears, showing the latest features with “Learn More” and “Get Started” buttons. (I included a screenshot of this when I sent the logs.) My preferences are also reset — the Color Space reverts from my usual Adobe RGB to Display P3, the Filmstrip Orientation switches from Vertical to Horizontal, and in the Save Options dialog my export setting changes from TIFF to DNG. These appear to be the default settings, though I’m not completely certain. Normally, I work in Adobe RGB with a vertical filmstrip and export files as TIFFs directly from the “Save Options” window, so it’s easy to notice when these reset.

@michelegranja

Here, the team won't see it if you send it privately.

Should we just reply with that information here or by private message?

Thank you to those who've sent log files. The Dev team is grateful.

The next request from them is to obtain a list of the types of changes being reverted.  I am advised that the more complete the list, the better. Can you give us some additional details about your experience? Withdrawn - we no longer need to collect logs as we now have a reproducible case in-house.

Additional Note: We should be releasing a permanent fix in the next update.

Thank you for your patience.

To me it happens when I open a RAW file from Photoshop (Windows 11). I did not encounter this reset for a couple of weeks. When it happens next time, will collect log files for you. Thanks.
