I have never had an issue with ACR before.18.3 freezing saying not responding saving files took twenty minutes instead of seconds everything was super laging, when I disabled the GPU acceleration it improved I see on the other pages I am not alone I'm using the most up to date windows, Nvidia drivers ETC: I have a 7950x, 5090, 64GB and NVME drives. Please fix as soon as possible or at least give a link to the previous version which I had no issues with.

Solution:

Update following the instructions in this link:

Confirming that updating from 18.3.0.2528 to 18.3.0.2529 also resolved two issues I was experiencing:

    1. Panorama merge DNGs failing to open in Photoshop when any Upright correction was applied (Auto or Guided). The error message referenced being unable to parse the file. Without Upright correction applied, the merged DNG opened without issue.

    2. The Ctrl+loupe magnification in Guided Upright not functioning.

Both issues resolved after installing 2529. Shooting Hasselblad 3FR on Mac (Apple Silicon), Photoshop 27.6.0.

Camera RAW 18.3 version is extremely slow and unusable. Please fix the performance issue, i don’t want the new feature. As the version before performance is also not that good.

    Sorry for the quick reply.

It does happen only with camera raw. Other programs are working as usual.

There is no crash. Only a deep freeze lasting 5 seconds to 10 seconds.

    Hey @eiapoce,

I’m moving your post from the Bug category to Camera Raw Questions while we gather more details about the crashing issue.

It sounds like this may be happening across multiple programs. Can you confirm if that’s the case? If you haven’t already, were you able to submit a crash report? Please let us know whether the report is for Camera Raw or Photoshop.

It would also help if you could share your system information. You can find this by going to Help > System Info. Please copy the details into a text file and attach it to your reply.

Here to help, just need more details.

Hello, I started editing with photoshop after a 4 months pause and I found this unpleasant bug.

When using Camera Raw on a Windows 11 PC with AMD Ryzen 9950x CPU, RTX 4070ti Super GPU and x870 Chipset Camera Raw freezes the pc while rendering the raw files

In order to troubleshoot the problem I freshly formatted the computer and started fresh with a updated windows 11 pro and stock bios settings (no overclock) latest nvidia studio drivers v596.36 and nvidia app v11.0.7.247. All programs are latest version. Bridge is v16.0.3.21 and ACR is v18.3.0.2528

    How to replicate the issue
When editing RAW files coming from my Canon R6MKII ACR behaves sluggish. Modifiing sliders induces lags. I usually open 20 pictures at the time and the more the picture I edit the heavier the problem gets. After around 10 pictures are edited hard freeze happens - it’s impossibile to run task manager or to move the mouse - keystrokes are accumulated in the buffer. Usually thereafter the freeze resolves itself after waiting 5 to 10 seconds.

When I deselect the option to use the Graphic Processor in ACR preferences everything resumes as normal - that is without hardware acceleration the renders are MUCH faster and lagless.

This is happening on the newly formatted pc with no third party software or plugins.

I have to note that other programs and games have no issues at all. I did not try to run Lightoom.

Did you try any of the suggestions discussed below in this thread? Many people have had success with these suggestions. In particular there is a newer (slightly newer) version of ACR to hold you over until the next release - it worked for me.

See below the yellow highlighted post from Rikk Flohr...

I have a top performance computer, I always worked with Camera RAW super smoothly. Now, it just doesn’t work, it takes forever and it freezes.

Anybody else facing this issue? How to solve it? I can’t find a way to install an older version.

I run in strictly the same issue. Which affects files coming from my R5 and my R5 II.

All my software is up to date In the latest version. And until now there was absolutely no problem.

When I prepare my files in ACR without super-resolution, there is strictly no problem in Photoshop. But as soon as I apply it, There's no way to open them.

Sorry for you but happy to hear that i am not the only one. The pb seems to be ACR, not PS. Even if you apply super resolution and then just try to save the file directly from ACR, there is already an error message. ACR has a problem with its own file just created.

In fact I dug a little deeper in the matter and I found out that the files from my R5 Mark I lead to the same problem…. I will try on files from other bodies. But you are fully right. I think it's a problem with the module inside ACR

Same Problem, Adobe why should I have to figure a work around to your problem??!!!! You take millions from working professionals and give very little support or make us do your work. We have clients and deadlines, oh I guess the photo software cartel worries more about pushing the AI stuff and pleasing shareholders:(

hi rikk, yes, it´s fixed. BUT.. Why do I, as a paying customer, have to deal with such things? It's a shame.
