P: Zoom with Option + Scroll Wheel with Adjustment Brush (k) and Spot Removal (b)

Starting with ACR version 13, zooming while using Option + Scroll Wheel doesn't work when using the Adjustment Brush (k) and Spot Removal (b) tools. The scroll wheel adjusts the brush size *regardless* of whether the Option key is pressed or not.

This is NOT the case when other tools are in use, and was not the case with version 12. Option + Scroll Wheel works to zoom with all other tools except the Adjustment Brush (k) and Spot Removal (b) tools.

As far as I can tell, this is a BUG that persists since version 12.

This is inconsistent with every other Adobe product, including Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Zooming using Option key + Scroll Wheel and panning with the space bar behavior is consistent across all Adobe platforms, but for some reason stopped with ACR version 13.

Thus, the only reason is it must be a bug.

Please FIX it!

I've heard back from engineering and confirmed behavior is a bug. We've filed a bug for this.

It seems that tools that use a "brush size" don't respond to the option key being pressed. *Regardless* of wether the option key is pressed, "scrolling" changes the brush size.

That is inconsistent with previous versions of ACR, as well as every other Adobe product.

The only explanation is it's a "bug" or a "mistake."

Editing comments doesn't seem to work, so I will clarify here: Option + scroll wheel was "broken" starting with ACR 13 *when using the adjustment brush and the spot healing tool.*

@Rikk

Macbook pro 16"

11.2.3 OS

Using a Mouse with a scroll wheel. Using any mouse with a scrolling function will suffice.

This is not as-designed behavior because:

1) Option + scroll wheel zooms with all other tools ACR tools EXCEPT adjustment brush and spot removal

2) Option + scroll wheel zooms in ALL OTHER Adobe applications, regardless of tool.

3) Option + scroll wheel zooms with ACR 12.X and older versions, regardless of tool

I'm unsure how else I can describe it unless you try it in ACR 12.X and then again in ACR 13.X.

Option + scroll wheel was "broken" while using Adjustment Brush and Spot Removal tools starting with ACR 13.

Are you Mac/Windows?

Os Version Number?

Mouse? Tablet? other?

It is possible this is as-designed behavior but I need the missing information to verify this.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes - I'm aware of that. It does help a little, but there's still two fundamental issues (1) zooming is still counter-intuitive because it's out-of-sync which how we do it in Photoshop and (2) scrubby zoom means we end up with non-exact magnifications which can have a consequence on how sharp images appear (when being viewed in ACR - it doesn't have any impact on the image once it's passed through to Photoshop).

The main issue is just the inconvenience of how we have to zoom though.

Really, really not what we are asking for.

Have you tried checking Global Zoom Settings on in the Zoom menu?  If you turn that on and then set the zoom level to the desired zoom (using any manner of zoom like scrubby, boxed or selecting levels in the zoom menu), and then click on other images in the filmstrip, the images should have the same zoom level.  However, the images will be zoomed into the center of the image by default, so you may have to pan to the desired area.  Hope this helps.

Dear Adobe,

Can we PLEASE have the functionality that allows us to zoom an image using a roll of the mouse wheel in ACR (just like Photoshop does).

Yes - I know we have scrubby zoom - but when I'm working with multiple images and I need to have them all zoomed by exactly the same amount for comparitive purposes - scrubby zoom doesn't cut it because they'll all zoom to slightly different levels of magnification. I need something that zooms in consistent steps.

The default functionality of the mouse wheel in ACR appears to be "vertical scroll" which (for me anyway) is something that's of no use to me what-so-ever.

Thank you.
