Dreamweaver 21.8 lost my ability to insert extensions - the menus.xml file is corrupt. Resetting preferences did not work

I have been using Dreamweaver 21 since December 2025. Have successfully installed extensions using DMX Zone Extension Manager. I think due to the recent update, the Insert menu does not display the extensions. When trying to upload again or different ones, the same error message appears: the file menus.xml is corrupt.  I have searched and found the recommendation to reset preferences, which I did twice, and am still getting the same message that the menus.xml file is corrupt. Please help.

Dreamweaver creates a safe backup of your menu structure whenever it launches.
    1. Completely close Dreamweaver.
    2. Navigate to your user Configuration/Menus folder.
      • Windows: C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver [version number]\en_US\Configuration\Menus
      • macOS: Macintosh HD/Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver [version number]/en_US/Configuration/Menus
    3. Delete or rename the corrupt menus.xml file
    4. Locate menus.bak in that same folder and rename a copy of it to menus.xml
    5. Reopen Dreamweaver.

Let us know if that helps.

My solution to a similar problem was to step back one version from the present version: usiing the Creative Cloud app, uninstall latest version, install previous version, re-install extensions with the DMX manager. There may be a better way, but I don’t know it.
