DW 21.7 code view crashes app

When using code view (which I use exclusively), DW will crash randomly, but persistently. I'm not sure what is causing this but I believe it's related to the code collapse and/or code assist features. When I use/revert back to a previous version, specifically 21.5, DW doesn't crash although the code-collapse feature still incorrectly collapses code from a previously saved version of a file. And I suspect that the code-assist feature may be the issue because when I disable the code assist, I can use DW for a longer period of time before it crashes. With code assist enabled, especially for DW 21.7, I can only use it for a few minutes before it crashes fairly consistently.

App Version: > 21.5

Code Linting, Code Hints & Auto Code Completion perform best with valid, error-free code saved on your computer's primary hard drive, C:\\MySite/ where MySite/ is your local site folder.

1. Are you working within a defined local site folder on your hard drive?  If not, go to Site ⇒ Manage Sites and define a site folder on your local hard drive.  Move files from cloud or external drives to the primary HD.

2. Is your code valid, denoted by a green checkmark?  See screenshot.

If code is throwing a red X, it contains errors. Validate code & fix all reported errors.

I have in the past and I tried it again per your suggestion, I even re-installed DW, but the crashes persist.

Either the DW software is having problems reading/saving preference files on my pc or there is a bug in the DW application code (or both), but it's not something I think can be resolve by restoring preferences or re-installing DW. I have been submitting the crash dump logs to Adobe so I hope they they are aware.

This issue has become a real neusance and limits my ability to effectively work using the software. Which is a shame because I've been using DW for over 20 years and haven't found a better code editor that meets my specific needs.

Have you done any of the typical troubleshooting steps like restoring preferences?

Even on a new installation, DW can corrupt the preferences file, causing all kinds of weird behavior. If you haven't tried it, it may be worth a shot.
