Shift Key and Scale not working

Scaling using the shift key has stopped working across all of my adobe applications.
Constrain proportions is checked on, and all scaling options within settings > general are on.

Any ideas what might be causing this. Have tried resetting preferences, updating to lastest version, and several reboots. Nothing is working.

Update: the problem seems to be with a programme we use called splashtop. It's a remote login tool. I'll work with our IT dept to see if we can resolve.

Ok - after a couple of days of being able to scale, it is now not working again. I turned bitwarden off and it has made no difference. Any ideas, I have to say this is a really frustrating problem!

Miraculously, it started working properly again today. My colleagues is still not working though, so will ask her to try it with bitwarden closed / unlinked.

Can you exclude Illustrator from the list of apps it interacts with? Or can you just turn it off? Does Illustrator work then?

Yes, we use Bitwarden

The following apps and settings are known to interfere with Illustrator. Are you sure you do not have anything of that?

  • WhatsApp on the web being the active tab in the browser
  • WebRoot
  • Apple Terminal
  • Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • »Enable Full Keyboard« in Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard on Mac OS
  • »Keyboard Navigation« in Apple settings > Keyboard
  • Apple Mail, Outlook
  • Spacebar is used as a shortcut by the system
  • Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari
  • Wacom Desktop Center, Wacom settings
  • Windows Touch Pad problem
  • LastPass, Bitwarden (password managers)
  • The VPN
  • LangSwitcher app (it needs to be closed and disabled)
  • Notes

Indesign and Illustrator.
Yes, so with an item (an image or anything else), I would normally hold shift and then drag out the item and it would scale proportionately. But it is not. It resizes, but not proportionately (i.e it stretches). All of the scaling options are ticked, including the chain icon. In 15+ years of using adobe, this has never happened before.
These is also not unique to me, I have colleagues who over the last few days are experiencing the same problem. We have not put any additional applications on our machines, or made any creative cloud updates (apart from updating to the latest versions, to see if that solved the problem).

So you have this happening in InDesign and when holding down Shift, scaling does not happen proportionally at all? Or what is happening?

Can you please describe step by step what is going wrong?

So how do you know sacle proporitionately, if it is not by holding shift and dragging the frame?
I cannot find any guidance on this that doesn't not give this instruction - even in adobe's own help guides.

There is no general issue with the applications.

You know that Photoshop has basically shifted how to use shift?

Just so that everyone is on the same page: what is not working with the shift key?
