fullscreen macbook pro notch squeeze interface

Lightroom Classic fullscreen bug on MacBook Pro with notch (macOS Golden Gate)

I'm having an issue with Lightroom Classic on my MacBook Pro, running the latest version of both Lightroom Classic and macOS Golden Gate.

When viewing a photo in fullscreen mode, Lightroom is supposed to keep the image below the MacBook's notch, leaving a black area at the top of the screen. This used to work perfectly.

However, something has changed. When I press L to activate Lights Out, the image gets squeezed horizontally, and the entire fullscreen layout seems to resize incorrectly. The image looks squashed rather than maintaining its proper aspect ratio. Toggling Lights Out off doesn't fix it.

I want to keep the notch hidden, so disabling the macOS "Scale to fit below built-in camera" option isn't an ideal workaround.

I've seen reports of similar behavior in older versions of Lightroom, but I'm wondering whether anyone else is experiencing this on the latest macOS and Lightroom Classic versions.

Has anyone found a permanent fix that preserves the correct fullscreen layout while keeping the notch hidden?

I can’t reproduce this issue on Golden Gate.
Could you please attach a screenshot?

    Thanks,
    Sunil

Hi @henriques14002391, Thanks for reaching out to the Lightroom Classic Community Forums! Let's try a few things and see if we can fix the full-screen issue.

    1. Adjust Display Settings:

      • Go to System Preferences on your Mac.

      • Click on Displays.

      • Ensure that the display resolution is set to the recommended setting for your MacBook Pro.

    2. Check Lightroom Preferences:

      • Open Lightroom Classic.

      • Go to Preferences (Lightroom Classic > Preferences).

      • Under the General tab, check if there are any options related to display or full-screen mode that can be adjusted.

    3. Reset Lightroom Classic Preferences: Please refer to this Helpx article for steps.  https://adobe.ly/3HsQXpA It is recommended to back up your catalog before resetting preferences. You may refer to this article for more information: https://adobe.ly/4dW8vqF.

If none of these steps work for you, let us know, and we can continue troubleshooting. I hope this helps! ^CH

Thank you. I have tried all of these options. Lightroom Classic worked flawlessly on my MacBook before recent updates. It seems to me that this is a problem related to the way Lightroom interprets screen size in the new macOS Golden Gate.

Thanks for getting back to us! Are you using any other Adobe application that's behaving similarly?
