Lightroom Classic has sync errors for photos that have Generative AI remove

I experience sync issues in Lightroom Classic for some photos when I add them to a Collection that is synched to the cloud. Only photos that contain Generative AI remove operations are affected. The photos were edited before attempting to add them to a synched collection.

I am running Lightroom Classic 15.5.1 on an M4 Pro Mac mini that runs MacOS 26.7.

I have found a partial workaround, but it is slow and time consuming. The affected photos appear in the Sync Errors group in the Catalog area at the top of the LH panel. For each of the affected photos, I have to regenerate all of the Removal objects to completely regenerate the data; I have to select each removal object individually to regenerate because there is no bulk operation for a photo. On some photos this may additionally have consequences for masks and I often have to also refresh the masks.

Regenerating the AI removal objects does not by itself immediately fix the sync - Lightroom remains stuck. For the sync to complete, I need to pause the sync operation, restart Lightroom, then restart the sync.

My sync issues are only with photos that use Generative AI.

    Hi @defaultynovrsqmy403,

Thanks for the detailed report and for narrowing this down specifically to photos containing Generative Remove edits.

The Lightroom Classic team is already investigating related sync issues involving AI-based edits. Your workflow is particularly useful because the problem occurs when photos with existing Generative Remove edits are subsequently added to a synced collection.

If you still have an affected photo in Catalog > Sync Errors, could you please leave it in that state for now and share:

    • A screenshot showing the exact Sync Error.

    • Help > System Info > Copy & past here.

    • The original file type (CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, etc.).

    • Whether the Generative Remove edits were created in Lightroom Classic or another Lightroom app.

There’s no need to regenerate additional Remove objects or use Rebuild Sync Data for now. The original failing state may help us determine whether this matches the issue already under investigation.

I’ll also share your specific workflow with the product team.

    Best,

I replied, had confirmation that effect, but the message also said it would not be released until it had been approved by a moderator. Two hours later, still no sign of the reply appearing. Did you see my response?
