LrC syncing is stuck on trying to upload a set of photos

I am running Lightroom Classic on a Mac mini (M6 processor, macOS GoldenGate) and notice that for a couple of weeks it can’t sync the same set of photos (5) to the cloud. Syncing does work (just created a new collection with 40 photos in it which synced perfectly to the cloud) but it is these 5 photos (from seemingly random collections) which refuse to do so.
Already tried a couple of things:

  • Rebuild Sync Data, which took a couple of hours to re-sync all synced collections (but at the end the very same 5 photos were left in the list
  • Removed one of the 5 photos (as a guinea pig) from “all synced photos” then watched it being removed on the cloud collection and the re-adding it to its shared collections: it doesn’t sync, it gets removed from that collection but not from the “all synced photos”! and  the number of photos to sync (which went down to 4 after removing it from “all synced photos”) remains stuck at 5 again.
  • Removed all edits (read somewhere that some lingering outdated AI edit might be the cause) - it doesn’t help
  • Consulted ChatGPT - after reporting my attempts it suggests me to contact you :)

Is there anything known about a bug in the recent LrC release (15.6)? Is there anything I could try to get this sorted out on my side?

With kind regards,

Jan

Did you open Lightroom Classic Preferences, Lightroom Sync, to see the Sync activity? Is there any error message connected to the 5 files?

Are the five DNG files online with the Lightroom Classic catalog file ( no ! on the thumbnail frame)?

Hi Jan, thanks for listing what you have already tried — that helps a lot. I cannot confirm a 15.6 bug from this alone, so please try Adobe's official Lightroom Classic sync checks in this order, and do not rebuild sync data again unless Adobe directs you to, as the official FAQ cautions against that:

    1. Check whether an All Sync Errors collection has been created in your catalog, and if so, look at what it shows for those 5 photos.

    2. Check sync status on the web: click the cloud icon, then View Sync Status on Web, and see whether the same 5 photos are shown as stuck there.

    3. Note the file types of those 5 photos, and whether they appear in All Synced Photographs even after being removed from their collections.

If you can share what the All Sync Errors collection and the web sync status show, that will narrow down the next step. I cannot guarantee this will fix it, but those are the official checks to try next.

    Hi “CORCTON”,

Thanks for replying this fast. Really appreciated.
Unfortunately there is no trace of an “All Sync Errors” collection on LrC side nor that I can see something resembling to “sync status” when I select the cloud icon on the web. To Lightroom there doesn’t seem to be an issue at all apart from the fact that it simply doesn’t sync those 5 photos. All 5 photos are DNG’s

I did test the “All Synced Photos” trick on one of those 5 photos (removed it from that catalogue, wait for it to sync to the web, noticed the photo to disappear over there, adding it to the synced collection it originally was part of: when I remove the photo from the “All Synced Photos”, I notice that the number of photos to sync indeed decreases from 5 to 4 and that the items in the collections decreases as well (from 345 to 344). When I add this photo to that collection again, I notice that this last number increases to 345 again …. only to be decreased to 344 after a short while (and the photo removed again). However, the photo remains on the “All Synced Photos” list and the number of photos still to sync remains 5!
