P: After soft proofing: before/after [shortcuts / and Y] do not show correct before/after (non-Raw)

Hi there!
The subject says it all. After I soft proof an image for printing I can't usw the before/after shortcut anymore. It seems like the "before version" is just gone. That's super annoying.

I  uncheck soft proofing, hit the shortcut and nothing happens. If I don't soft prrof lightroom would show me the before image with zero changed values. That's what I need.

Please help or fix this.

Thanks!

I have a similar, if not same, issue. I cannot activate Soft proofing whatsoever with GPU acceleration activated. With the GPU acceleration deactivated, the Soft Proofing initializes, but the Before image just remains as a framed grey background where the image should've been.

In my LR 11.5 / Mac OS 12.6, the same misbehavior occurs with:

Sony A7IV raw ARW

"The image I am testing with is raw (CR2). Is that what you are testing with?... I can repeat the behavior but only for non-raw files - can someone confirm that is the case for them?"

In my LR 11.5 / Mac OS 12.6, the same misbehavior occurs with:

- Two JPEGs.

- A Canon EOS-1D X Mark II .cr2.

- A Canon EOS R5  .cr3.

- A Nikon Z 6II .nef.

The test I tried was with a DNG (from a Sony raw).

"I don't see incorrect results. Sliders shouldn't move to the Before image's values by toggle before/after. The After Image always has App focus."

What I meant was that the actual image shown in Before has Temp = 50,000, rather than the original 4,600, which is incorrect.  From your screen recording:

Original image:

Before / After at the end of the recipe:

So you're LR is experiencing incorrect Before/After results on that file, just somewhat different than the rest of us.

This is the behavior I am seeing. If you watch this can you tell if I am following your steps precisely?

Rikk, in your recording, it looks like:

- you're not typing Y in steps 3 and 4 before soft proofing.

- you're using the keyboard shortcut S to invoke soft proofing rather than clicking the checkbox.

But when I try to mimic your steps, I still get the (different) behavior in my recording and reported by Bob, so I don't think the differences in your steps are material.

However, your recording doesn't seem to produce the right results either. After you turn off soft proofing, the Before in the Before After shows Temp = 50,000 rather than the original 4,600:

I double checked the step 3 & 4 and used the check box instead of KBSC [ S ] and I get the same results as before.

What could be different?

On this end, the latest release of Lightroom Classic, the latest Mac OS (12.6):

Type S key, and select profile.

Type Y key: I see before and after.

If this isn't what you're doing, please provide steps for us to test.

Repeatable steps

1. Start with a new photo

2 Slide Temp at the way to Cool

3 Hit Y and Before/After and different

4 Hit Y to turn off Before/After

5 Check Soft Proof checkbox

6 Slide Temp all the way Warm

7 Tell LrC to create Soft Proof Virtual Copy

8 Uncheck Soft Proof checkbox

9 Go back to original COOL Photo

10 Hit Y for Before/After and both sides are the same.

I am not able to replicate this on Mac 12.6

Perhaps detailed step by step instructions?
