Macbook Pro 16 inch, 2019
MacOS sonoma 14.0 (23A344)
Happened to me on two versions of Ventura as well, I completely erased my OS and reinstalled and it didn't solve the problem

Yesterday's update to LR 13.01 has resolved the reported problems. But now I don't find the search bar in the Library Module, it seems to have vanished for good.

Thanks for investigating. But I don't know if you will find anything usable in the crash bucket, as LR doesn't terminate the process itself. It only freezes, simulating that it is loading something. I made a new test just now - after waiting 7 minutes for LR to react after clicking on sky selection I tried to shut the program but as always, the screen went almost white with only a very faint image coming through the white haze. Nothing more happened, only the Windows dialogue opened asking whether I wanted Windows to shut down the process or if I preferred to wait for the software to react. I preferred Windows to shut it. By the way, I suppose I reported my problem in the false thread because I hadn't noticed that this is a Mac thread. I use Windows, as I explained in my text above. Sorry for that.

My version keepscrashing, too. Everytime I try to use a brush, a linear mask and so on, it crashes. My PC works on Windows 11 (all updates installed), Processr i7 13700K, installed RAM 64 GB, NVidia RTX 3060, last update was yesterday. Only the very basic functions can be used, including noise reduction. But any function using masks crashes instantly. No report is sent to Adobe, but to Windows.

How does your Macbook match the published minimum requirements - especially regarding GPU?

(Note that meeting minimum specs is rarely enough in the Real World: ideally you want to be up at - and preferably beyond - the recommended specs.)

Yes, it supports Metal 3

If lack of Metal support is a known problem, maybe an improvement in
the startup UI informing the user of this could be implemented?
