P: Crash (Witchita Foundation) (10265538)

Have been using Lightroom Classic on MacBook 16 Pro (2021) for 3 years without problems.  Beginning around 1/1/2025, have had 2 new problems:

1) Import of new photos from SD card (Canon R5, firmware 2.1.0, RAW images) is sometimes incomplete.  May have 600 new photos, only imports 85, or 200.  Repeating import 1-2 additional times usually succeeds.
2) While simply reviewing images, LRC crashes.  Does automatic test of Apple system, which always shows no problems.  Long technical error message on screen which I am not skilled enough to interpret.  (Have not yet made a screenshot of this message, will do so ASAP.).  Crashes occur 2-3 times during a single review session of 300-500 images.  (All still images).

Troubleshooting:  Have upgraded cmaera firmware, MacOs, LRC version.  Have uninstalled, reinstalled LRC through Creative Cloud.  Have tried creating new catalogue.  Have not yet tried deleting preferences.

Any helpful thoughts or reports by others of similar behavior appreciated

Hello,
If the SD card reader doesn't pose a problem, only the CFe card reader, I can suggest the following test and solution. Indeed, I have regularly encountered problems with a Prograde CFe card reader, mainly involving corrupted DNG files. Recently, it occurred to me that it could be a faulty USBc cable: it would seem, although this has yet to be confirmed, that the change to a top-quality cable has been salutary. In view of the low cost, you might like to carry out this test.
Sincerely from France

Re: davidmineheart:  I have never imported directly from card in camera.  My MacBook has an SD card slot on the body of the laptop and I mostly import directly from an SD card in that slot, but also use a CFEspress Type B card in a portable card reader connected to the MacBook via usb-c cable.  CFExpress is new to me, have only used one time, and that single event did import all images, but then as soon as I started to review the uploaded images, repeated crashes.  In summary,  after only one trial  I don't know if  importing from a CFExpress card will be any less buggy than the buggy partial imports from an SD card, but the later crash behavior, occurring with image review, image develop, and image export seems identical regardless of the type of card the images were uploaded from.

Are you importing directly from card in camera, or card in a card reader
attached to your computer via USB?

Just crashed again 1 min after my original post.  I mis-spoke.  The integrity testing was to test the Lightroom Classic app, not the Mac Sequoia system,  Each time, reports the integrity of the Lightroom Classic app is fine.

I have made a screenshot of the very beginning of what is probably a 20 page error report and attached here:
