P: Creating a preset with just Remove selected fails

Creating a develop preset with Remove selected but no Remove commands applied to the photo appears to succeed.  A .xmp file is created, but the preset doesn’t appear in the Presets panel.

To reproduce on LR 15.2 / Mac OS 26.2:

1. Open a photo in Develop and click Reset.

2. Create a preset named “_remove”, with just Remove, Reflections, People, and Dust checked.  Observe that no error is displayed but “_remove” doesn’t appear in the Presets panel, though the file “_remove.xmp” appears in the Settings folder.

I confirmed that the bug recipe now works correctly in 15.3.

However, it highlights that presets don’t capture anything from the Remove panel (Generative AI, Content-Aware, Heal, Clone). This is certainly “as designed” and thus not a bug.  The use cases:

    1. Eliminate removes from a photo (the use case motivating this bug report).

    2. Apply the same remove to a sequence of photos, e.g. a burst or a time lapse. It’s often the case that the object to be removed is in the same location in each photo.  We can include other location-specific edits (e.g. brush masks and gradients), so it’s a silly restriction we can’t include removes.

It’s not important enough to me to file a feature request, so if someone else cares, they should file it.

    Greetings all,

A new update for the Adobe Photography products has been released.  The April release (x.3) contains an update regarding this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by pressing  [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for being so patient.

    I see the same bug.

Q: Why would a user want to preset Distraction Removal as empty?
A: To reset them form library.

In Develop I suggested years ago to let users reset each panel by doing:  “Alt/Option > click on the panel’s icon > reset happens.

In Library it would be trivial to have in “Quick Develop” dedicated “Reset” buttons for:  Edits, Masking, Manual Remove, Remove Distractions, Enhance

Icons could be used instead of Text for universal understanding beyond words.
