P: Delay after selecting Export

Hey guys !

After the latest update, I'm facing a rather annoying problem. After I do all my export settings and press EXPORT Button, LR seems to time out for a couple of minutes (and don't respond) until it starts the export. After that the export time is quick as usual !

Update:@johnrellis
I was finally able to repro this on an older Win 10 system. I will update the investigation bug with the new information.

Update: Newer posts by some customers indicate that a drop shadow on a text watermark will induce bad behavior. I've tested and see no evidence of that based upon the information provided so far.

Testing on a Mid 2022 Macbook Pro M1 using OS 12.6 and LrC 12.0.1

  1. Create a Watermark with Text containing a drop shadow.
  2.  Export 23 raw files to full size JPEG (25 seconds to finished export)
  3.  Export 23 raw files to full size JPEG with watermark from step 1 (23 seconds to finished export)
  4.  Export 23 raw files to full size JPEG with watermark with shadow opacity reduced to 50%) (23 seconds to finished export.
  5. Export 23 raw files to full size JPEG with Graphic Watermark at 50% opacity (14 seconds to finished export)

In all cases the progress bar begins to move at about the 2 second mark.

While it may be that a drop shadow on a text watrmark lies at the root of the issues you are seeing with delayed start on Mac export, we are still unable to reproduce this.

If anyone sees something I missed or, can add to the instructions provided by others, I would be happy to review them.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the issue.

We verified this, we are not seeing the slowness. Could you share a screen recording of the whole process so that we know what is happening. The screen recording will be helpful in reproducing the slowness and finding the rootcause.

Thank you!

For me, the slow down only occurs when exporting with a watermark. 36 photos took 58 seconds w/o graphics acceleration and 36 seconds w/ graphics acceleration when NOT applying a watermark. When exporting with a watermark and all other settings the same, it easily took over 10 minutes.

I have exactly the same issues when trying to export, nothing happens for about 1 minute and fifty seconds and then it exports as usual. Totally frustrating. I hope Adobe come up with a fix soon.

Hello,

after updating LRC to Verison 12, I have an issue with exporting.

When I want to export a file, the export window prompt, then I click on "export" and

for at least 30-60 seconds nothing happenes (the mouse sign shows "busy"), after that the export

starts.

This morning, I updated the OS to "Mac OS Ventura" and also updated LRC, but the problem is still there.

Can you please help me?

To date, ten others have reported similar symptoms:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/long-wait-after-pressing-export/m-p/13287743

At least one person reported that unchecking Preferences > Performance > Use GPU For Export worked around the problem. But others report it didn't help.  Worth a try.

I have a brand new Mac Studio 2022 with an M1 Mac Chip. 60GB RAM. It's running Monterey 12.6.

I installed Lightroom 12.0.

When I export full res jpegs (from RAW), it takes minutes before it starts exporting..

I tried disabling and enabling GPU settings, but it doesn't change a thing.

Anyone knows a fix?

I submitted an internal bug report for similar behaviour in early September. However, that was for LrC11.5 with 500 plus files. I'm not sure whether it has been fixed in LrC 12. The bug I submitted identified an issue with the progress bar not being in sync with the true progress of the export. In some situations, the progress bar indicated that the export hadn't commenced, even though the exported files were appearing in the target folder. In other situations it would start, stop, start, etc again giving the impression that export progress was very slow.

You didn't mention the number of files you're are trying to export. Can you provide the number and also try another export with the target folder exposd in Finder so that you can monitor the actual export progress?

Also, check that the GPU settings indicate that you have full acceleration as indicated in below screenshot.

BTW, my system is Mac Studio Ultra with 64GB of memory running macOS Monerey 12.6

I am having the same issue. Also turned GPU off for exporting. No change. How do we get Adobe to add this as a bug/fix this

"How do we get Adobe to add this as a bug/fix this"

Based on past experience, either someone discovers a simple recipe that Adobe can reproduce or else many more people will have to report it.

I was already about to give up on Lightroom becuase it handles Fuji RAW files so poorly. Maybe its time to move on to Capture One.

Same problem here. I have Monterey 12.6 on Mac Studio 2022 with M1 Chip. Lightroom Classic 12.0 takes minutes before exporting a single image... Enabling or disabling GPU doens't change anything.

Merci d´avance.

I'm using LrC to Version 12 on Windows 11 and do not experience what you are describing. My only suggestion would be to check your export options and ensure that the final option specifies "Do Nothing" or the French equivalent. Sorry that I don't have any better ideas.

As devilla.mac did, I just uninstalled V.12 and reinstalled version 11, everything works normally. So it's a manufacturer bug. I hope that a fix will be released soon to allow those who have this bug to take advantage of LRC improvements. Especially since this subscription is paid for and ADOBE has the obligation to resolve the defects of its products even if this bug only affects a limited number of people, at least for the moment. No doubt it will increase when some will discover this defect which is not very visible. Does my information reach ADOBE?
