P: Duplicate Published Smart Collection ERROR

i found this problem report elsewhere and over 3 months without answer. I have the same problem.

I have Lightroom 6.01. The Duplicate Published Smart Collection feature does not work. Whenever I right click on a Published Smart Collection to invoke the Duplicate... command, I get an error message each time I attempt to do this. The error message says "An internal error has occurred. Assertion failed."

Doesn't removing it break EULA?

I am cool with my work around, but i am not sure of the wisdom to call it "fixed" instead of saying that an option has been removed..

I couldn't think of a good argument against his logic, but if you guys have a different idea of what should happen, I could run it by the eng.

I don't understand that. The server is only affected after PUBLISH is hit. However, I think that selecting (all pix from) a collection and creating a new one has the same result.

Thanks much for the clarification.

The reason/note from the eng who fixed this by removing it states "It is ambiguous, at least, what the implied action on the server side should be if a published collection were to be duplicated."

So, they removed something customers paid for.

Yes, it appears the bug was "fixed" by removing the Duplicate command for published collections.
