P: Edit In Photoshop doesn't open all photos

You have a serious bug in Lightroom that has been there for several years and I at least reported to you twice on previous versions of Lr. It has been ignored.

This happens when both Lightroom, and Photoshop are up to date (ACR up to date).

When I select a number of photos in Lr which I have cropped and edited, to further edit in Photoshop by clicking CMD E (Mac), on occasions, (it does not happen all the time) some photos do not open in Photoshop. For example, I usually have about 30 photos selected and when I open in Ps, I find only 27. I have to go back to Lightroom, find those that were missed and open those again.

This is NOT user error, as I am 100% certain that I am SELECTING ALL before I hit CMD E.

The way to overcome this is to have Photoshop (ACR) a version behind Lightroom so that when I try to open the photos from Lightroom, it will ask me whether I want to render in Lightroom instead, and that way all photos get exported to Photoshop.

Please do not keep on ignoring this bug forever.

Hey Sunil, it's been 2 years already.   How time flies.  This bug is STILL NOT FIXED.   It's a serious annoying bug that slows a lot of us photographers down.  How about it Sunil?  Can you help us out?   Mac OS 10.14.6 Lightroom Classic 9.2 Photoshop 2020 21.1.0.

You started this thread 2 years ago.  This bug is still happening.  Where's Adobe with this bug fix?

Hey https://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/people/johan_elzenga, you started this thread 2 years ago.  Where's Adobe with this bug fix?   Sunil, an "Offical Rep"  posted on this page 2 years asking about software versions... and then it's been silence until 5 months ago when Rick Flohr chimed in about escalating this bug level from "ignore "(apparently) to "acknowledged" by the Photoshop team.    How do we raise it from "acknowledged" to "addressing the issue", or perhaps even "fixed"?

BTW, I've found it skips images even when opening just 3 images at a time.  This with a brand new iMac with plenty of memory, solid state drive, and 8 GB graphics card.  It's a bug that Adobe doesn't seem capable of fixing.
This bug happens both with Lightroom CC 2015 and for Lightroom Classic 9.2 with Photoshop 2020 21.1.0.   See example below.  Out of 40 images, Photoshop only loaded 38.  It randomly skipped 2 files in the middle.  Screen grab shows only 2 of 4 images with same name loaded.   It's hard to catch which ones don't load.  Sometimes happens even when loading just a few images.   This is a MAJOR BUG and has been going on for years.  Why won't Adobe fix it?

I've even had regular occurrences of sending a single file to PS, where PS gets activated, but then nothing happens (ie, that one file never opens in PS).

One of these days I'll have a workflow of:
- Select a few files
- Command-E to send to Photoshop
- Edit them in Photoshop

Rather than the workflow I've had for years:
- Select a few files
- Count how many are selected (or get selection count if visible)
- Command-E to send to Photoshop
- Count how many arrived in Photoshop, and compare to how many should have arrived
- If not the same, close them all down (it's too annoying to work out which file didn't make it, and anyway, sometimes the order is important), switch back to LR
- Send again, and Repeat until the count of files opened in PS is the amount sent (might take one or more tries)
- Edit them in Photoshop

Maybe in 2020, sometime? Fingers crossed...

This is so easy to reproduce I am surprised it has not been fixed for this long.  I just tried opening 30 files  with the latest Lr/PS and only 28 opened.

Mac OS, Lightroom -> Photoshop, all updated. Same problem has been bothering me as long as I remember. Every. Single. Day. I started with 20-30 files in the batch but it was way too difficult to find which ones were missing. I continue trying 10 to 5 files but still one or two are missing. That slows my workflow very much.

I thought this problem was related to my older Mac Pro GPU/hardware being taxed, but now that I have a new 2019 iMac with lots of memory, a SSD and a very fast GPU I'm finding the same behavior is happening, so it's definitely a software issue.  When right-clicking 10 to 30 jpeg images in Lightroom and using the Edit In Adobe Photoshop CC 2019... option,  I sometimes discover that 1 or more of the images just doesn't load in Photoshop.   It can be hard to tell which ones are missing and it doesn't seem to have any discernible pattern (not always the last images or first).  I then have figure out which ones didn't load and redo the option to get them loaded.

I've moved the status on this Problem to Acknowledged
Really? After all these years, and it wasn't even acknowledged yet? So how many more years do we have to wait for an actual fix for the problem?...... while still paying subscription fees?

I've moved the status on this Problem to Acknowledged as a bug has been filed with the Photoshop team. We've escalated the issue. Thanks for your continued patience.
