P: Edit in Photoshop sends it to the Photoshop Beta, not 2023. No option to choose.

Hoping for some help here. I am on a PC and have the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. I wanted to download and try the new Photoshop Beta so I downloaded it from the Adobe Creative Cloud and it installed fine. BUT - when I use Lightroom and choose EDIT IN - ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2023 it opens the BETA version. It does not give me an option to choose WHICH Photoshop version I want to use. Uninstalling the Beta basically kills the ability to send an image from Lightroom Classic to Photoshop at all and the only way to get things back is to uninstall the beta and then uninstall Photoshop CC 2023 THEN reinstall Photoshop. I'd love to play with the beta and be able to choose which version of Photoshop I want to use when sending images from Lightroom Classic.

I've seen some videos where the option to select which version of photoshop you want to use is selectable from a dropdown menu but this was on a Mac and not a PC. Any help is appreciated!

I uninstalled both. Installed Beta first. Then LC. Opening Lightroom Preferences, it wasn't there BUT selecting 2024 somehow connected to Beta.

It seems like the latest Photoshop Beta update has broken things and now I'm getting the same issue i'm seeing here.  I've tried everything i've read in this thread. uninstalling then reinstalling in different orders. Even with PS beta open in the background it eventually opens the image(after a minute or two) but not before giving me the error "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2023 could not be launched."

Before the update images from lightroom would just open naturally to and version of photoshop that is currently open. I wonder what changed?

Adobe does not make any claims about any update and patch release dates. We must be patient and wait.

What is the estimated timeline to fix this issue?

When I open PS (Beta) for the fist time it screw everything up when trying to open images on PS 2023 from LRClassic. PS 2023 will only open images from LRC as smart objects. After reading a few post on this board. I uninstalled PS 20223 and PS (Beta) and re-install PS 2023 and now everything is working as it was. No need to uninstall LRC. Waisted about 1.5 hour of my day which as someone else mentioned, I did not need to waist.

I use WIN 11. I cannot have both versions of PS/Beta in the drop-down menu like MAC users. The only version that is available in the drop-down menu is the last one installed, even tho both are installed and functioning on the computer. I can select either from their respective icons.

Please advise,

Ron

I have the same problem.  Will try opening Phoroshop 2023 before LrCC.

@@santtuhakalaphotography  Your solution may work in the scenario mentioned but doing that may cause some other issue as the original name of the installed software folder (Adobe Photoshop (Beta)) is changed and there might be something where this folder name might be referred and that functionality may stop working.. If you find anything, pls report here so other can benefit from it. Thank you !

Really simple solution and works for me:

Just go and rename "Adobe Photoshop (Beta)" folder in Program Files like "Adobe Photoshop (B)" and then it opens PS2023

Tell here if it works for you, cause I change few registy editor paths before. (those changes didn't work by sefl though)

Just came across this issue. Clear that after installing and then uninstalling PS beta, LR can't "find" PS. Re-installed Ps and works fine now.
