P: Embedded Preview requires Develop setting change to build standard preview.

Attached video shows new issue with 13.5 and 13.5.1 since the "fix" for the automatically added white balance: as shot in the history.

With the update thumbnails in develop are resetting to the embedded preview and sometimes the white balance in the main image is not being updated until the user changes a value.

Video starts with me switching images and then hovering the mouse over the thumbnail of the last image which makes it reset to the embedded preview (icon reappears).

I then circle the bride's arm before adjusting the clarity slider a tiny amount and you can see the white balance updates.

Next I switch to the previous image and again hover over the thumbnail which switches back to the embedded preview.

Finally I switch back the other image and this time the white balance is shown correctly.

LRc isn't always creating a preview for an image when viewed in Develop unless the user changes a value. Sometimes it does but I cannot find a repeatable set of steps. I have tried clearing the Camera Raw cache with no luck.

Another thing I noticed is that when creating the video when I tweaked the clarity to -4 and back to 0 to force the white balance update a history step of: Clarity 0 0 was added - screenshot attached. Another bug?

@Rikk Flohr: Photography did you ever hear anything from the classic team about the thumbnail preview issue? It's still there and still annoying but one this I have noticed is that if you click a series of thumbnails in a row as soon as you click the fourth one the first one reverts to the embedded preview. The video shows it well, created today in 14.2

Hi, firstly there's a typo in the thread title.

Secondly, I think this changed with v14 but now the main image gets and keeps a LR generated preview, it's just the thumbnail that reverts to it's embedded version when hovered over.

Thank you for that information. I've linked this thread to the bug.

I cannot reproduce your White Balance issue described here and in your video.

I have asked the Classic team to comment on the behavior of Embedded Previews, as I see the same behavior you are seeing.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography Support escalated the embedded preview issue and it was assigned bug-id: LRD-4218203

A little more testing and it seems this only happens with images imported into 13.5 or later. Images imported into older versions seem to behave as expected.

Another aspect of the issue - how can thumbnails show both the edited and embedded preview badges at the same time?

@cmeiling this is the bug the fix introduced.
