The update to the Generative Remove AI model in Lightroom Classic 14.5 has ruined it, as it now changes elements outside the painted mask, making it more or less unusable in many situations.

Also seeing the same in PS Beta v27.4 m.3404, only if gen AI is turned on. Had ruined a few layers before I’d noticed.

@Sean Goodhart: "I like the distraction removal tool, ... The tool finds the person I'd like to remove, but the mask also selects parts of objects that should not be removed.   I'd like to be able to manually go fix the red selected areas, just like we can when using the select objects mask tool."

Unfortunately, you can't do it.  You can select a pin and delete the corresponding red selection entirely, but you can't fine-tune it.

You'll have to use Generative AI Remove and manually select the objects to be removed.

I like the distraction removal tool, I'm trying to use the "remove people" action to tidy up the background of a shot I took at a recent classic car & motorbike show.

The tool finds the person I'd like to remove, but the mask also selects parts of objects that should not be removed.   I'd like to be able to manually go fix the red selected areas, just like we can when using the select objects mask tool.

At present, when I click "remove" for the selected area the replacement pixels also change parts of the image that really should not be touched - the bike lamps in this example image.  If I could edit the mask I can explicitly exclude that from the AI pixels being replaced.

Many of us have reverted to 14.4 using Creative Cloud. Uninstall the current version and reinstall the prior working version. Works great!

@mohrchelsea: "I just updated to 15.0.1 which says it included "critical bug fixes" but AI removal still isn't working right on my end. Has this update worked for anyone else or are you still having problems?"

Adobe is pretty good about updating bug-report threads when a release addresses the bugs. They haven't posted here (yet) that LR 15.0.1 addresses this bug.

@Aspin26410579htdu: "The tool is now editing far outside the brushed area,"

Adobe employee Sameer K recently wrote above, "The team has identified the issue, but the fix wasn't included in the Lightroom Classic v15 release. It'll arrive soon, as this issue goes beyond Lightroom Classic and also requires broader fixes in Camera Raw."

@tessa_0244: "This is a major issue that has been ongoing for months now. I hope it will be fixed in the next update!"
