P: Lightroom Classic 14.5.1 Stalls or freezes when I drag folder on icon

Since the beginning of LR I have been able to drag a folder on its dock icon and it prompts me to create a LRCAT and then opens the import dialogue box in one foul swoop.

Now it just freezes on the opening graphic before the import dialogue appears and I have to quit and import manually.

Any fixes out there?

Cheers

Simon

Hi @inspirephotonz,

I wanted to share a quick update from my side. I tested this workflow again after updating to Lightroom Classic 15.0.1, and I’m no longer able to reproduce the freeze when dragging a folder onto the Lightroom Classic dock icon. The app launches normally, and the import dialog appears as expected.

When you have a moment, please update to LrC 15.0.1 and test the same workflow on your machine.

Best regards,

Hi @inspirephotonz,

Sorry to hear you're facing issues with Lightroom. Could you please share a few more details to help us understand better?

  • What’s the folder size and how many images does it contain?

  • Where is this folder located (local drive, external drive, or cloud)?

  • Did the issue start after a recent OS update?

  • Can you share a short recording of your workflow? That would really help us see what’s happening.

In the meantime, please try the basic troubleshooting steps mentioned here: Lightroom Classic basic troubleshooting

Thanks,

Srishti
