Updated LRC and now tethered capture window doesn't even show. Files are not transferring to computer regardless.

LR Classic 10.4

Canon 5ds

Catalina 10.15.7

I rolled back to version LRC 10.3 because I have to shoot today but here are my specs

Lightroom Classic version: 10.3 [ 202105281559-8dc50eb4 ]
License: Creative Cloud
Language setting: en-AU
Operating system: Mac OS 10
Version: 10.15.7 [19H1323]
Application architecture: x64
Logical processor count: 20
Processor speed: 3.6GHz
SqLite Version: 3.34.0
Built-in memory: 131,072.0 MB

Also - is it possible that the software has updated when I have preferences set to no automatic updates for this very reason?

Greetings,

The Max 2021 Photography products updates have been released and include remedies for this topic.  The updates will be rolling out worldwide, October 26 and 27, 2021. If you do not see the updates in your Creative Cloud Desktop app, you can refresh the apps to see if the updates are available in your region.  The keyboard shortcut to refresh is [Cmd/Ctrl] + [Opt/Alt] + [ R ].

Note: iOS and Android updates may take up to a week to appear in your App Store.

Thank you for your patience.

Dear God, this is driving me insane.  5D3.  Latest Canon firmware, latest LR classic update, Nikon tether plugin enabled.  MacBook Pro 2019 OS 10.15.7.  Camera not detected.  Please help before I end up bald.

Lord.....I'm shooting Canon and just went in and Enabled the NIKON tether plug in and it worked.  Go figure.  But I'm momentarily happy.

This senario above, "tethered control window no longer visible" is exactly where I am today.  Spent half the day trying to figure it out and came upon this thread.  Similar specs, Mac Desktop running Catalina 10.15.7, shooting with a Canon EOS 1Dx M2 as I have done seamlessly forever, and now the tethering function will no longer initiate.  Import can SEE the camera but tethering is a nogo.  Camera remains in BUSY mode.  I've tried disconnecting, rebooting, updating firmware, deleting Lightroom Classic Preferences folder.  Nothing seems to work.  But my Tethered dedicated laptop running Mojave 10.14.6 still works flawlessly.  I'm stumped.  Only thing else I can think of is updating the desktop to BigSur 11.5.2 but I am hesitant, will it make it worse?  Or fix the problem?  How do you go back in OS once updated?  Do I need to?  Ugh.

After udpating this last night, I can no longer tether my Canon cameras, particularly R5 and 1DX Mark III. After seeing the first window upon clicking Start Tethering, the usual tether bar is no longer visible, neither is it capturing any images from the camera.

  1. Go to File > Plug-in Manager.
  2. Select Nikon Tether Plugin and select Enable.
  3. Restart Lightroom Classic
  4. Try tethering with a Canon camera.

Thank you. Somehow, this works fine. But why though?

Another issue I notice is how Lightroom attempts to read ALL the files in the CFExpress card loaded before allowing tethering to commence. It's kinda annoying when you have a 512GB card in the camera with loads of files and it takes minutes just to get tethering to start.

If you use the latest version of Lightroom Classic (10.4) and tether using a Canon camera, please enable Nikon tether plug-in if it's already disabled.

Go to File > Plug-in Manager.

Select Nikon Tether Plugin and select Enable.
Restart Lightroom Classic.
Try tethering with a Canon camera.

Thanks,

Sunil

I've been having this same issue with my Canon 5D Mark IV as well... tether sporadically drops about every 4 seconds. Brand new tether cable and I've restarted the app so many times, and am on the most up to date software. Nikon Tether is Enabled.

Not sure what to do.

I have a similar setup... and it works for me.  The difference is likely the Big Sur version.  I'm still on 11.5... not the latest 11.5.x.  I shoot with an EOSR but I just tested with a 5DSr as well.  It works fine.  I do have EOS Utility installed but its not open.  My computer is an M1 MacBook Air
