P: LrC 14.5 Edit in Photoshop does not work when opening RAW photos

Since the last update opening photo in Photoshop by right clicking in Lightroom doesn't work anymore.

Working on a Mac Mini latest ver. of OSX

Thank you so much : My filepath was Foto's,.... I changed tje name in "Fotos" and everything works fine again.

What happened if you configure Photoshop as an additional external editor?

You can use the appropriate parameters for file format, color space etc. as you need.

That's not correct. I figured out the issue. It's all set.

Hi All! The team is investigating this. Please check if the file path for the original images includes a ( ' ), or any other special characters, and rename the folder. If the file path is, for example:

Pictures\2025\August's Favorites\Sample Folder
Rename it to:

Pictures\2025\Augusts Favorites\Sample Folder

Folders renamed outside of Lightroom Classic will still need to be relinked to Lightroom. You can right-click on the folder name & use Find Missing Folder, or follow the steps listed here: https://adobe.ly/4mD0A4y

Hi @mystic_soldier7700,

That's what it was, I had an apostrophe ('). Once I removed it, I was able
to import it to PS. Thank you so much!!!

I have updated all my Adobe products.

But recently when I try to edit my photos with Photoshop 2025 from Lightroom Classic - it doesnt come up with 'Edit copy with LR Adjustments' and when it loads up into the PS 2025 - the image doesnt come up in the PS 2025 photo editor. It seems to load in as a Raw File not an TIFF File. Even though in LRC I have ticked in perferences TIFF file.. (see screenshot). Any advise?

I dont know if this is an issue but as of today I have not been able to export from LRC to PS. Is therr a known bug?

Hi @dapyute, welcome to the community!

Could you share a few more details about what’s happening? What versions of Photoshop and Lightroom Classic are you using?

When you mention exporting, are you referring to using the "Edit in Photoshop" option from Lightroom? If so, what exactly happens when you try it, does Photoshop not open at all, or do you get an error message?

Hi Alek,
I am using LRC 14.5 and PS 26.9. Yes, when I use the "Edit in Photoshop"
feature or "Ctrl + E" shortcut, it opens Photoshop but nothing happens. I
have since tried it on another file and it works fine. I however cannot
export photos from the original file that it happened to even with me
closing out of PS & LrC and rebooting my computer numerous times.

Hey, @Hugo32537733e5pg. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Does this happen with every image? Trying to use Edit-in won't work with an image that is missing its original.

You can try these steps to set up or recreate the link between Lightroom & Photoshop 2025.

Reset Lightroom following the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4fOPxm4
Uninstall Photoshop & Lightroom and then install once again.
Before launching both of the apps, ensure Lightroom & Photoshop have the required permissions on the macOS: https://adobe.ly/4amzwQg
You can try launching Photoshop first, then Lightroom & check if it works as expected.

Thank you for your reaction.
Unfortunately it didn’t work until now. Ik did exactly as you proposed (+ checked OS permissions) but it turns out the same.Although I noticed that Ik can open fotos that were saved in LR in the .psd format…. NEF or .jpg not.
I can open files into PS but there is no connection with LRC.

After reinstalling PS and LRC while opening LRC for the first time it opens on a new catalog. Should I us this one… I think that tis will lose all my previous adaptations.

I would appreciate your further help.

On Windows 11 I use Lightroom Classic and Photoshop 2025. PS is the external editor for LRC. Up until yesterday I could edit .CR3-files from LRC in PS. The result of the edit was stored in de LRC Catalog as a PSD-file (in a stack with the original CR3-image).
Earlier today I installed the latest versions of both LRC en Camera RAW (resp v14.5 and 17.5). PS is v26.9.
I can still edit PSD-files from the LRC Catalog in PS, but CR3-files will not load into PS. PS itself will load but shows no image file. There are no error messages in PS or LRC. I may add that I did not change any setting in LRC, PS of Camera Raw after the updates/
When I open a CR3-file manually in PS the Camera Raw interface opens, so I assume the correct Camera Raw version is installed in PS.
I have converted CR3-files to both the DNG and the TIFF format and imported these files into LRC. But these formats as well will not open in PS when invoked from LRC.

I can't reproduce this on my machine.

First try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic: How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

When the 'link' between Lightroom Classic and Photoshop has issues, the first step is to try this:

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Application to uninstall Photoshop. When asked, keep preferences! After this reinstall Photoshop again.

If this doesn't help the next step is to reinstall both apps Lightroom and Photoshop. Please follow the steps below:

1. Open the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop Client and uninstall both Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. When asked, keep preferences!

2. Install Photoshop first and then Lightroom Classic. The right order is very important here!

If this doesn't help try the reinstallation with removing the preferences also.

Do you have installed Photoshop Beta? If yes, deinstall the Beta and reinstall Photoshop 26.9 again.

Followed all your instructions, including a complete uninstall and reinstall of PS and LRC. First with keeping the preferences and then once again without keeping the preferences.

Unfortunately all these actions did not leas to succes: the link between LRC and PS still does not work for RAW-files. However, the link does work for PSD-files.

When I try to open the attached file in PS from LR, PS just hangs up. I've waited up to five minutes with no luck. I've turned off the gpu in LR. This was also happening just before I update LR and PS with today's newest releases. I believe my former versions were current before updating.
