P: Not able to rename AVI files with Camera Make during import

I rename my photos in Lightroom 3 at the time of import with Camera Make + Filename. This works great to distinguish the photos between my Nikon D3s and Nikon D3x. Unfortunately, video taken with the D3s does not have the Camera Make field in the .AVI file and when you import the pictures, Lightroom "hangs up" looking for the Camera Make. A popup window that allowed you to create your own name or a way to fill in the information manually would be helpful. At least, it should import the avi file and notify you that it could not rename the file properly.

Thanks

This issue was solved in Lightroom 4 and later.

OK, I've tested with your file and I see the hang up behavior you describe. It's not just the Camera Make rename that seems to do this, but so far anything that I've chosen from that same drop-down cases the same behavior. Even just the dimensions. It seems it is unable to read this information off of video altogether. I'll log this with engineers and see what we can make of it.

I'll send you an email with information for an ftp upload.

I can send you a file. Tell me how to send it to you though.

Sounds like some strange behavior. I don't suppose you would be able to send a small sample video file that exhibits this behavior so we can test on our side.
