P: Render Smart Previews from LrC edited w custom profiles correctly in all Lr Photos cloud clients

Raw images with a custom camera profile not look correct when synced from Lightroom Classic to the cloud.  This is r-e-a-l-l-y inconvenient for updating my Adobe Portfolio.  The images look lousy in lightroom.adobe.com, LIghtroom Mobile (Android and iPadOS).  The workaround is to export as jpg, and then reimport into LrC and sync the jpg to the cloud - but that is unmanageable for more than just a few images.

Setting status on feature request.

Affects: Lr Galleries, Portfolio and Spark.

Primary Workaround:

  1. After syncing Smart Previews from Lightroom Classic
  2. Make sure your DCP Profile is imported via a Lightroom Desktop/Mobile/Web Client
  3. Open the image in a Lightroom Ecosystem Client and perform a tiny edit to a seldom used slider
    (Example: Texture +1)
  4. Move to the next image to commit the sync
  5. Undo the edit from step 3.

The renders shoud now be correct in clients using the Lr Photos import (Galleries, Portfolio, Spark, etc)

(A preset could be constructed to apply a benign edit to do a bunch of photos in LrDesktop Grid)

You could also export from LrC as DNG and ingest in another client. If your original was DNG from LrC then the full-res version would replace the Smart Preview.

Profiles (and Presets) do not sync from Lightroom Classic to the cloud.

In order to use custom profiles, you need to import them via Lightroom Desktop and allow them to sync to the cloud.  Presets and profiles sync freely between ecosystem clients (Desktop, Web, Mobile).

Hi Rick -

Thanks for that reply.  As I mentioned in my earlier private correspondence with you, I have already imported the profiles into Lightroom Desktop from Lightroom Classic.  Do I need to reimport them post-upgrade?

It would be prudent to verify there presence or lack thereof before attempting to reimport them.

Do you still have Lightroom Desktop on your machine?

If so, can you verify if the profiles exist in your LrD installation?

If they do, can you verify that you have turned on sync and that sync is completed?

After that verify that you can see the profile via LrWeb or LrMobile.

If after all of that the profiles do not exist on all cloud-based devices, then it is time to reimport.  If the operatio was completed successfully prior to this Adobe ID, there should be no need to do it again.
