P: Shortcut CTRL + ALT + O (Show Loupe Overlay) doesn't work

Hi,

Since the Lightroom Classic 13.4 update I can no longer trigger the Show Loupe Overlay using the keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + O.

It still works using the menu (View > Loupe Overlay > Show).

Another update, another new bug I guess 😜

On the other hand, the workaround doesn't work in Develop. There, the menu command  View > Loupe Overlay > Show is not greyed out, and it works correctly. However, the shortcut Ctrl Alt O doesn't work (Windows).

The problem is that LR 13.4 assigned the same shortcut to two different commands in TranslatedStrings:

"$$$/AgDevelop/Menu/Photo/ToggleObjectAware/Key=Cmd+Option+o"
"$$$/AgLibrary/Menu/View/EnableLoupeOverlay/Key=Cmd+Option+o"

The latter is used by View > Loupe Overlay > Show in both Library and Develop.

* On Windows in Develop, Ctrl Alt O toggles Remove > Object Aware, regardless of whether the Remove panel is open.

* On Mac in Develop, Cmd Alt O invokes View > Loupe Overlay > Show, regardless of whether the Remove panel is open.

A workaround is to use the Any Shortcut plugin to reassign the shortcuts -- it will be updated to LR 13.4 no later than tomorrow.

The product team really should use Any Shortcut to manage LR's shortcuts -- it would have detected this error before release (as well as the dozens of other errors I've reported in the last couple of years).

I observed the same behavior as @GoldingD.

So the workaround seems to be: In Loupe, do the menu command View > Loupe Overlay > Grid, and from then on the command View > Loupe Overlay > Show and its shortcut Ctrl Alt O work correctly.

@GoldingD  That was my experience as well. I will ask the product team if I should write it up...

Went in and tested. Note LrC v 13.4, Windows 11

  1. Selected an image
  2. Was in Library Module
  3. Was in Loupe
  4. Pressed CTRL + ALT + O.
  5. Nothing occurred
  6. Brought up /View/Loupe Overlay
  7. Noted that Show was grayed out
  8. Selected Grid
  9. Loupe View showed the grid
  10. Then pressed CTRL + ALT + O.
  11. Keyboard sequence worked
  12. Brought up /View/Loupe Overlay
  13. Noted Show was no longer grayed out
  14. Tried to repeat, error did not occur
  15. Closed Lrc, Opened LrC, error did not repeat.
