P: Window Sizing Problem

When opening LR Classic 9.2 it maximized its window size to take my entire screen no matter what the window size was when I had closed LR.  I have an iMac with Catalina 10.15.3.  Uninstalled LR 9.2 and installed LR 9.1 to fix the problem.  Its was too much of a PIA to have to resize the apps window every single time I opened LR to justify the upgrade's features.

I just updated my Lightroom application on my Mac OS Monteray 12.3.1 and the application is maximized and I can not change it or move it on the screen. I will log another bug.

I just updated my Adobe creative cloud apps and Lightroom classic is now on verion 11.3. I am on MAC OS Monterey version 12.3.1.

I can't resize the application or move it around at all. I don't see any resize handles around the whole application frame. There was a previous bug reported and the status on that bug is "fixed" linked below.

How can I get some help to fix this problem. I am not in full screen mode. This is so frustrating as I can't have another window with a different application next to this application window. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Try these initial troubleshooting steps:

1. Type Shift+F several times to cycle through the screen modes. That might kick LR into behaving.

2. Try resetting LR's preferences:

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

*carlos_cardona_4982447.

why are you questioning the premise of the original question?  This is a common, and insulting response too often made by people who think they "know better".  Either answer the question, or if you take exception to the premise, you can always stay silent.  Lecturing and talking down is totally unnecessary.

On Windows, this bug existed for certain mod levels of Version 9. Too long ago for me to remember which one but I was so glad when it was fixed. I'm also suspicious that it was actually a video driver bug, had a bunch of those at the same time. Great fun with bugs affecting bugs.

And for me it's still happening here in May 2021. What is going on in California?

Why wouldn't you want complete control over every aspect of your computer interface?

And like the others, I often have other apps open for transferring metadata.

OK...done....second reboot of Lightroom appears to now stay in sized window. I'll double check tomorrow, but looks like this fixed it. Thanks for your help. -Angus

In that case it may be an idea to reset your preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Go to 'Help - System Info' and check that you do really use the latest version (9.2.1).

Seems my version of 9.2.1 may not sadly comply. On restarting Lightroom each day it is reverting to full width on the screen (LG 38in) I reset to half the screen so I can work between two or three windows. Is there a preference setting I am missing perhaps?
