P: (Windows) Application hangs when trying to open masking tool

Since said update, LR goes into "not responding" mode with CPU usage "very high" and does not come back. Killing the LR task and restarting does not help. 

 

System: Ryzen 9 5900X, 64 GB, GeForce RTX 3060 with latest Studio Driver

 

Any ideas?

Hello,

 

I just updated my Lightroom Classic to 13.0.0.15 and since then I cannot create any kind of mask. The little mask area (where all current masks on the photo are listed) appears but in black. And then Lightroom freezes. I already updated my graphic drivers and tried to work without gpu by changing the performance setting. When I click on the mask button Lightroom tries to recognize persons. On photos with persons this feature still works. But after or while creating this mask lightroom will crash too. What can I do? 😞

I was importing photos and Lightroom froze after 8 of 500 photos were imported. I rebooted the PC (running Win 11) and the same problem occurred. I unistalled Lightroom and re-installed. Did not help.What can be done?

To work it out on a user forum, you are going to have to provide a lot more detail.  

 

Without that and if it were me, I would roll back a version.

Masking is not possible. LR freezes instantly when you click on mask

No report is generated.

I have to close LR by task manager

Uninstall and reinstsall after restart doesn't work either

I reinstalled version 12.5 it works fine. I wait for stable version 🙂

After installing V 13 today Oct 11, I have ties a few lens blur exercises (2) and suddently, PC started to lag in LR 13 (I have a powerful PC). and then other functions could not work... I returned to V 12.5 and this for a few weeks until LR 13 get it's act strait.

 

PC Ryzen 7, Win11 64bit, 32GB memory, Drive C SSD has more than 1TB free,

Just installed LrC 13 and am facing a freezing of LR when I click on the masking tool.

After clicking on the masking button, the masking tool bar (right hand side) opens and the usual small masking box starts to open, but stays black. Then there is showing up a black bar on top of the photo window and LR is frozen.

 

I had to go back to version 12.5. which is working perfectly fine.

Forgot to say that only the Task Manager allows me to terminate LR after the freezing.

Today I updated Lightroom to version 13 on Windows 10. The application freezes when I switch to the masks in the Develop module.

I have figured out, that i have to first pick a color with the new Eye Dropper, when it is only half visible. The "Punktfarbe" works as expected when not in Mask Mode. In Mask Mode the entire application freezes when i use the scrolbar and the "Punktfarbe" panel is open. It looks like a problem if Lr trys o display the "Punktfarbe" Panel with no color selected - empty color Picker. 

If only the small color picker is displyed, see screenshot, and the right black arrow is horizontal, big color Picker not visible, everything is OK. The problem seems to display the big color Picker within the panel with no color selectet previos. After picking the color with the small picker, i can switch the black arrow to the big picker, and it works! So in my opinion a problem with the empty color picker  - before a color was picked.

The described Problem does not occur in Camera Raw! Here all the Mask Settings work fine!

I installed Lightroom Classic 13 about an hour ago (Windows 10 with the latest updates).  It has now crashed four times.  The issues seem minor: three crashes came after I added a star to a photo's rating and one came after I used the arrow key to move from one photo to another in the filmstrip.  I had no trouble reopening the program, and the added stars were present when I did.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Same here. Same setup. AMD 5900X, 64 GB, RTX 3060, studio driver updated. Clicking on masking tool in develop module an Lightroom hangs permanentely. CPU and GPU load: nearly none, but CPU load NOT zero (between 2 and 6 percent). Happened directly after updating from latest 12 to new 13.

Same here with the RTX 3060 and an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz , RAM 32GB

Worked fine with the 12.5 Version

Sowohl auf dem Laptop wie auf dem PC friert mir LR13 ein, wenn ich auf Entwickeln - Maskierung - Motiv o. Himmel o. Hintergrund gehe.

Im Laptop ist die Nvidia RTX 3060 Laptop und auf dem PC eine RTX 3060, beide mit dem neusten Treiber vom 10.10.23. Windows 11 ist ebenfalls aktuell.

Mit der LR 12.5 funktioniert alles wieder 

Gibt es hier ein Treiberproblem?

Ich habe das gleiche Problem bei der Classic Version. Alle möglichen Versuche sind bis dato gescheitert.

Die Online LR Version funktioniert. Wir scheinen nicht die einzigen beiden zu sein. Ich habe hier auch schon einen englischen Post zu dem Thema gesehen und dort mit meinen Systeminfos gepostet.

das in einer zukünftigen Update-Version behoben sein wird.

Wir werden sicherstellen, dass der Fehler so schnell wie möglich behoben wird.

Sobald die neueste Version aktualisiert ist, können Sie sie installieren und verwenden.

Schauen wir ersteinmal, wie lange es dauert, bis der Fehler beseitigt ist.
