March 26, Beta 27.6.0. Generative Fill is grayed out and not usable under any circumstance. Worked fine in previous version, still works fine in release version. Same machine, same internet connection.

Workaround: use release version 27.4 or use beta version 27.5.0

M1 Max OS 15.7.4 64GB RAM blah blah blah

Hi @robertw44482386 could you share more information on what is happening?  What is the workflow you are using when this happens. Are you on a personal subscription or edu/enterprise?

    1. Try resetting Prefs for the Beta:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ Photoshop Beta Settings (Mac Ventura)
    /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/Adobe\ Photoshop\ \(Beta\)\ Settings (Mac)

    C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings

Launch BETA Photoshop While Pressing The Keyboard Shortcut
With Photoshop closed, press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and then Launch Photoshop the way you normally would.

    2. It may help if we could see your Photoshop beta System Info. Launch Photoshop beta, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thanks Cory for replying. It’s an enterprise setup and my IT dept won’t let me post system info here. Also I can’t reset preferences becuase that will affect the previous version which is working fine and I can’t disturb that while working.

But I can assure you that the previous beta (27.5.0) and the release version (27.4) work perfectly on the exact same file, but the latest beta updated this morning will not allow a generative fill under any circumstance. With a precise selection, or with the whole canvas selected….when the layer below is pixel layer or a smart layer or any layer. The option is just grayed out so there is no error message, just not an option to begin the process.

Hi, for Edu/Enterprise, your IT Admins have the control to turn on and off feature as well as updates.  It is possible that something in the update was flagged by them? Not sure, but that is a guess.

I will reach out to the team to see if a change that was in the update would cause this or if they have heard of this.  There should be another Ps Beta update tomorrow, Friday, so maybe this issue for you will be fixed in that?

    Thanks,
