Generative Fill Partner models are giving either a) highly unusual results or b) constant error messages
Generative fill partner models in Photoshop beta (27.5) are not working. BOTH he Gemini 2.5 and 3 progress bar hangs up forever, and then gives the “Could not complete your request because of a program error.” The “learn how to fix” button takes me to a page about errors during save operations. 2.5 only hangs up occasionally, but 3 hangs up and fails all the times.
These errors were briefly observed in the Photoshop (27.3.1) ecosystem as well. Co-worker experiences same bug on theirs as well.
Windows 11. Yes, I have quit the application, checked for updates, and restarted my computer.
As far as recreating it, it’s the same as simply using the feature. FWIW: I have used this exact workflow dozens of times over the last several months with great results.
- on a blank RGB canvas, place two Photoshop documents with transparency to use as reference images (because for some reason you have not extended that functionality from firefly to partner models like other sites have). Images can be alone or underlaid with a solid background. doesn’t matter.
- select canvas
- select model
- input prompt
- click “generate”
- weep
I have found that rasterizing the photoshop documents briefly solved the issue, but only once. it stopped working the next time I tried to generate anything.
Also: I have burned through hundreds of credits (not to mention several hours watching progress bars) trying to troubleshoot this. I think a refund/credit of credits would not be unwarranted or unwelcome.
