Masks have been broken for many weeks

Issue: Layer masks are very broken and have been for many weeks.

• Photoshop version: 28.01.
• OS: Mac Tahoe 26.3

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a mask on a layer
2. Try to use black or white to hide or reveal the mask
3. It doesn’’t work most of the time

Expected result: You create a mask then use black and white to hide or reveal that layer. 


Actual result: Ive been using photoshop for 15+ years and this has always worked the same until recently. Now using black or white to paint on the mask barely ever works. If it does it’s only randomly after messing with all the settings. Then it will randomly stop working or will glitch and no mater whether you are using black or white it will reveal the mask. So it’s wildly broken and I can’t even find a work around it simply randomly decides when it wants to work or not and how. This is THE primary tool I use for my work and its so broken it’s been causing me great stress. please fix asap. there are several other posts about this but sinces none of them have been addressed I had to make one of my own.
