P: Color and Contrast issue with Photoshop Beta 27.11

Is there any update to this? A lot of logs and examples has been supplied, it means I'm stuck on the last working version .9 and am missing out on beta updates while this is going on

I’m experiencing the same issue in Photoshop Beta 27.11 m.3655 on Windows 11.

System:
MSI GF65 Thin 10SDR
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB
Intel UHD Graphics
Intel Core i7-10750H

The problem started suddenly today. Photoshop Beta had been working perfectly before.

When “Use Graphics Processor” is enabled, the image/canvas becomes noticeably darker and the color/contrast changes. The difference is very obvious, especially when zooming in and out.

If I completely disable Use Graphics Processor, the image immediately displays with the correct brightness and color again. However, Photoshop becomes much less fluid: zooming and panning are choppy.

I also tested Older GPU Mode (pre-2016). This also restores the correct image appearance, but again makes canvas navigation and zooming noticeably less smooth.

The exact same PSD/image displays correctly in regular Photoshop with GPU acceleration enabled, so the issue appears to be specific to the current Photoshop Beta.

I have already tested the following:

• Updated NVIDIA driver from 552.22 to the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver 616.56 using a clean installation.
• Updated the Intel UHD Graphics driver to the latest compatible Intel driver.
• Restarted Windows after both driver updates.
• Disabled GPU Compositing — issue persists.
• Disabled OpenCL — issue persists.
• Disabled “Accurate Previews for 16-bit Documents” — issue persists.
• Enabled “Precise Color Management for HDR Display” — issue persists.
• Windows HDR/Streaming HDR is disabled.
• Checked Windows Color Management; there is no unusual ICC profile assigned to the internal display.

The only things that consistently restore the correct brightness/color are:

1. Disabling “Use Graphics Processor” completely, or
2. Enabling Older GPU Mode (pre-2016).

Both workarounds negatively affect Photoshop performance and make zooming/panning less fluid.

In regular Photoshop, GPU acceleration works normally: correct color/brightness and smooth navigation. The issue happens only in Photoshop Beta 27.11 m.3655.

It looks like there may be an issue with the current Beta GPU-accelerated canvas rendering on systems using NVIDIA + Intel hybrid graphics.

I can also provide screenshots showing the same image displayed correctly versus the darker GPU-rendered version if needed.

I am experiencing the same issue on a Dell XPS 15 9500 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti + Intel UHD Graphics.

Photoshop Beta 27.11 displays my images with significantly increased contrast and darker shadows when “Use Graphics Processor” is enabled.

The same images display correctly on the same computer in Lightroom Classic and in the regular/stable Photoshop release, with GPU acceleration enabled.

In Photoshop Beta, disabling “Use Graphics Processor” immediately restores the correct appearance, but causes significant performance loss.

I have already updated the NVIDIA driver, checked the Intel UHD driver, tested with and without my external Dell monitor, confirmed Windows HDR is OFF, tested OpenCL and GPU Compositing separately, and checked Photoshop Color Settings and ICC profiles. None of these resolved the issue.

The problem appears to be specific to Photoshop Beta GPU-accelerated canvas rendering.

System: Dell XPS 15 9500, Windows 11, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti + Intel UHD Graphics.

I am using the latest available Photoshop Beta update, but the issue is still present.

Thank you for your assistance in helping us isolate this issue. Is anyone on this forum able to reproduce the saturated color issue in Photoshop Beta when using their monitor’s default ICC/display settings?

I did some more testing with 27.11 and found that the image (attached) that I recently took, when viewed in file explorer and PS 27.11 look the same but when viewed in LR it is less contrast and saturation. Also when I took a picture of the image on the screen in LR that has less contrast and color, the resulting image appeared to have the adjusted constrast and saturation.  It seems it only affects the display in LR when presenting the image.

I reset prefs and that didn’t fix the issue either.  I’m using LG HDR 4K monitors running windows 11 pro latest build.  I have an NVidia GeFOrce RTX 3090 gpu.  

For anyone having issues: if you can, please take a picture of the differences with a phone camera taking a photo in addition to a screenshot. Sometimes that makes subtle issues more apparent. If the issue is very visible in a screenshot, that may be enough.

Please also share with us any other info you can, including the monitor you are using. Others from the team may pop in here to ask more questions with the goal of diagnosing the issue.

I have also noticed a similar issue today while working on some images, excuse the goofy screenshot but I can’t share the clothing online yet. PS Beta 27.11 on the left and Bridge on the right.

Bridge seems to be displaying the correct colour, confirmed in base Photoshop and other softwares.
